Bolt Action Unboxing: Mk III Armadillo
Prepare to roll out with John and Gianna as we take a look at the MK III Armadillo for Bolt Action from Warlord Games.
The Armadillo was an improvised armoured truck used during the first years of the war by the RAF to protect aerodromes and also used by the Home Guard.
The truck bed had a wooden "fort" installed, which wouldn't have inspired much confidence from the crew, however their intention was always to be used as a mobile unit encountering lightly equipped enemies in the event of a German invasion.
Have you used the Armadillo units in a game?

Nice kit. Incidentally, one of the road junctions between Wareham and Bovington (where the Tank Museum is) was protected in 1940 by a improvised bunker made out of an old WW1 tank. They dug a shallow hole, dragged it in, and banked up sandbags around the sponsons Would make a nice terrain piece on your Sealion table.
As tim says the the British version of a technical which the germans also used by putting flakvierilng quad mounted onto trucks wihout any protection for crew, and we have all seen in recent times how nasty a surprise technicals can be?.. as a side note my grandfather was in the ldv ww1 veteran they would'nt let him rejoin the regulars he was a great grumpy troll like man who's visage made me both shake and giggle in equal measure, my father joined up late 1943 and fought through to germany. Great work john many thanks mate...
Good tellingoff after the break. I think they were braver than I am. ☺
the water turns the frogs gay
The most disturbing thing about this is that it's Mark THREE... Someone did it already twice and just kept going...
I'd love to paint this like the meat truck from Dads Army they made into an apc
Is it me or is that gun been mounted upside down on the assembled kit.. the clip is on the bottom of the gun, whereas the stat card shows it as a gravity feed a la Bren / Bofors....
The British version of a technical but with a tiny bit of armor. Cute. The US is looking at up grading to 7.62 from the 5.56 for the reason you stated as well as other issues.
Did that thing overheat a lot? The radiator is covered with a steel plate. So sure it is "protected" but I don't see how it can function properly.
How much lead would a wood fort stop if a wood fort would stop lead?
I kinda like it but it’s wood?!
yes looks like orky to me thiss like have fore the IGs but will not go i see more
Rubbish points from the commentators with no idea what wargamers or modelers really like.
