Bolivia in the heart of the flood | Deadliest Journeys

Ойын-сауық

In the steaming undergrowth of the Bolivian jungle a family collects the rotting husks from giant almond trees. With their bare hands they extract the nuts that contain the almonds exported to gourmet stores throughout the world. Edgar has to transport them in his old truck to a processing plant as fast as he can. Like him, Ramiro carries another of the riches plundered from the forest: timber. The road could be a healthy jaunt, but in Bolivia the continuing slaughter of the forest is upsetting the ecosystem and creating unprecedented imbalances in the climate. Exceptional rainfall surprises the two drivers and the rivers of Amazonia flood millions of hectares. The main road to the capital, La Paz, is under water. Within a few days the country is cut in two and more than 100,000 people are affected. Hostages to landslides and the fury of the waters, the journey of the two men, as they struggle to save their livelihood and their trucks, turns into an incredible torment in the heart of the flood.

I have one or two journey nightmares...but this is next level nightmare. You can't even use the word road to describe these mud quagmire "tracks". The drivers seem so chilled, in a lot countries there would be road rage kicking off after half hour in a traffic jam. Remember these folk the next time you are in one...we are blessed.

So who the hell is getting rich off these almonds ? Cuz if these people are making pennies and im paying a fortune for almonds in canada then something isnt right with that equation, and i know it doesnt cost that much for transpo to justify a mark up of 100x the orignal price. Man i swear the weathy people of this world make me sick. The profits made on these almonds alone could pay to build their roads up so that the damn drivers could deliver their goods befor they spoil and have to pay out of their own pocket. All cuz of shitty roads and im guessing government reaping the benifits of its peoples misery
