Bolivia in the heart of the flood | Deadliest Journeys
Ойын-сауық
In the steaming undergrowth of the Bolivian jungle a family collects the rotting husks from giant almond trees. With their bare hands they extract the nuts that contain the almonds exported to gourmet stores throughout the world. Edgar has to transport them in his old truck to a processing plant as fast as he can. Like him, Ramiro carries another of the riches plundered from the forest: timber. The road could be a healthy jaunt, but in Bolivia the continuing slaughter of the forest is upsetting the ecosystem and creating unprecedented imbalances in the climate. Exceptional rainfall surprises the two drivers and the rivers of Amazonia flood millions of hectares. The main road to the capital, La Paz, is under water. Within a few days the country is cut in two and more than 100,000 people are affected. Hostages to landslides and the fury of the waters, the journey of the two men, as they struggle to save their livelihood and their trucks, turns into an incredible torment in the heart of the flood.

I have one or two journey nightmares...but this is next level nightmare. You can't even use the word road to describe these mud quagmire "tracks". The drivers seem so chilled, in a lot countries there would be road rage kicking off after half hour in a traffic jam. Remember these folk the next time you are in one...we are blessed.
one or two-story is enough for one episode. otherwise, it is hard to remember, all are excellent kudos to you
Excelentes documentales buen trabajo pero deberían dejarlos al español tambien
48:50 - It's ASTONISHING that the government of countries like this don't see the importance of investing in road infrastructure.
Hermoso video
I do not understand why in such harsh living conditions, they have so many children. And surely the documentary crew compensates these families for their time, yeah? Can’t imagine id want some guy in comfortable clothes walking around me with a camera as I’m doing work, watching me like some wildlife photographer.

Unfortunately, lack of education and protection is not readily available and can be looked down upon due to cultural/religious reasons. Here it sounds like they took on more kids than their own.

How many times do they recycle some of these docs! This one, in particular, isn't two weeks old; I recall watching it a couple of months ago! I just have to say, the narrator and his voiceover, are just fantastic!

I thought I would witness adventure. But instead witnessed adventure out of necessity and sadness. I’m terribly disappointed with the way these people are surviving. They have to do this just to barely survive.

The biggest issues with Bolivia is lack of roads
I think those are Brazil nuts, not almonds. Thanks for the top shelf Docs.

This is so terrible seeing how hard these ppl work and try making a living for their families. My heart aches watching how these ppl are being exploited. My lord and savior please place your hands upon these ppl. Why aren't their roads paved especially with all the rain? 😢😢😢
Great.
0.25 cents a kilo is horrible considering that 1 kilo goes for over 22.15 euros here. They could give him 500 or 1000 euros for the 1-200 kilos he delivered and still make a huge profit...
God bless them all 🙏🙏🙏🙏💐💐💐
Those look like some kind of Brazil nuts...I've never seen almonds growing inside a coconut type shell

THESE DRIVERS never learn. There is an easy way to traverse these roads. Hardly anyone is doing any thinking.
Waw amazing mantap
What's the name of the narrator please? He really knows how to narrate.
This is sad. You wonder what the Central Government is doing for such communities. I am even contemplating consuming products with almonds. That aside, we must applaud the resilience of these people. They've adapted to the challenges.
Life goes on

Bolovia é um pais pauperrimo.como a venezuela..o Paraguai..Guatemala. e El Salvador..TENHO dó desse povo sofrido..vive em constante miséria.
You would think there would be money to build roads at least and that the almond drying, shelling and disecting would be more automated.
Like in sumatra indonseia....

It's unlikely , you know what governments are like In South America most people live in a fascist dictatorship . Very sad , because something could be done to help people all around the world . However , governments are primarily there to keep the people down .

So who the hell is getting rich off these almonds ? Cuz if these people are making pennies and im paying a fortune for almonds in canada then something isnt right with that equation, and i know it doesnt cost that much for transpo to justify a mark up of 100x the orignal price. Man i swear the weathy people of this world make me sick. The profits made on these almonds alone could pay to build their roads up so that the damn drivers could deliver their goods befor they spoil and have to pay out of their own pocket. All cuz of shitty roads and im guessing government reaping the benifits of its peoples misery
