Hi, I used the MF, blurring slowly, slowly to achive the bokeh effect. I think that the best way to have a nice bokeh effect is with the AUTO mode, yeap, you need to use the zoom anyway, but be sure to have a lot of light on your main object. The camera will automatically blur the background (your christmas lights). Maybe you just want to blur your lights and do not want any object in front of them, in this case you could use the TV in MF mode and adjust the shutter time :)

how did you do this? and is it possible to get this effect in pictures? i love it, and have the same camera and i'm trying to figure it out. what mode does the bokeh efffect work best in for pictures? are you able to use the bokeh effect with christmas lights instead of a big rode like this? i have mine in program > MF > and then i just zoom in and out. but i'm testing it on the christmas lights that i hang from my headboard on my bed. please help! :))) @cibervoldo
