@@Rockleefan3 it was right for the truth to be told. We root for bojack because he's the protagonist and so we spend more time with his thoughts and feelings than anyone in the show, but this doesn't justify his orribile actions and he shouldn't get away with them. That's the point of the show, everyone is flawed and actions have consequences...

Jack the Ripper. I mean, I love those problematic characters cause I found them relatable, but I never thought anyone would want to be like them. @@JackTheripper911 woah, i don't think anyone wants to BE these characters. They relate to them, they feel less alone, and that's not a bad thing, someone that's already as low as Bojack or Rick needs something like that to latch onto. That's why we're happy when Bojack succeeds and gets better, because we want to be better too. It turns bad when someone refuses to change.

It's called masking and that's usually what people who think divergently like we know we are aware we know the people that do hurt as we know the people that are going to hurt us but we still are nice to them we still care more abt how they are feelin cuz we actually feel like shit but we are just trying to either not make anyone else in a better mood or light up there mood make them happy cuz we feel like our feelings are not as important than others so a lot of ppl think we are happy but we are not we are the most loneliest because we legit change our personalities to satisfy others to the point that eventually once we are alone we do not know ourself or we like to fantasize a lots of reading a lot of fun things or just imagine a different place universe like Mr. peanut butter is here he has his own show where he pretends everything is great in life and so that is the reality we legit escape on we legit be going to a place in our brains were we are happy cuz once we are with ppl it's so exhausting and mentally just trying to make people happy even if you ask for it or not cuz we don't care abt ourself we hate ourself we will make sure that person is at least less sad even if we had it worst we are just that low on ourselves it's really exhausting because we legit or not trying to put the attention on ourselves we are just trying to make everyone happy cuz we are people pleasers and in reality we do not matter we do not value ourselves and we will legit be the first ones to wanna fucking jump in front of a car in order to save someone because I value peoples lives more than myself and that is on childhood trauma that is on my parents victimizing themselves that is on people always making me feel bad if I choose some thing I want to do and all those years old that time I was a kid it broke me and this is how I am now and that's how a lot of us are now we are divergent thinkers and we are people pleasers and we are Mr. peanut butter and a lot of people hate Mr. peanut butter but we hate ourselves too

This is honestly one of my favorite scenes in the entire show, and it shows Mr Peanutbutter is monumentally more complex than people give him credit for. “You think I don’t notice?” recontextualizes every time Mr Peanutbutter seems ‘too dumb to be sad’. Because he says outright that he knows bad things happen, that he knows how Bojack treats him. He understands reality. But that’s never stopped him from being happy. From being hopeful. I also think that him forgiving Bojack is hugely underrated. Because Bojack Horseman isn’t a show where characters just forget and forgive. I mean.. look at Herb. Look at Todd. Characters in this show don’t forgive people unless they mean it, because this show doesn’t have to cater to its audience wanting things to turn out good. But Mr Peanutbutter does forgive Bojack. Because even though Bojack is “a stupid piece of shit,” “a selfish coward,” and “a tar pit,” Mr Peanutbutter chooses to see the good in him. Like Mr Peanutbutter chooses to see the good in everything. I think that’s really significant

To be fair though, it should be pointed out that Wanda pressured him into forgiving bojack, so it's up for debate how genuine it is. Of course I would still argue its mostly genuine, as as far as I remember there are no hints of him not actually forgiving him in future episodes.

i think the saddest thing about that is that it's because mr peanutbutter is a labrador. almost all other characters are given human depth and comprehension beyond their species, but mr peanutbutter is far more similar to his real life counterpart than any other on the show. of course he forgives bojack, he's loyal. of course he doesn't grow with his partners, you can't teach an old dog new tricks. he can tell when he's being mistreated, as many animals do, but he lives his life in a series of barely-connected moments of joy or anger or disappointment and doesn't spare a second to ever look back or forward. this isn't humanly possible, and i think that's the point the writers were trying to make with his character - only a dog could spend all those years being mistreated and still stick with bojack

I think the problem with Mister Peanutbutter is that while he means well, he doesn't expect to have to work hard if his heart's in the right place. Hence his offering to hear out Bojack when Bojack says he needs a friend, and then as soon as Bojack starts talking he turns around and talks to someone else. Also (spoilers) he shows his true colors when he proposes to Pickles after sleeping with Diane.

I think its a bit disappointing that most viewers don't notice that Mr. Peanutbutter also has some serious problems himself just because he happens to be a nice and sociable person and a lovable animal. He is in serious denial about all of his problems. This was a major point of his visit with his brother where he can't even talk to his brother about important issues because he is aggressively in denial about anything being wrong. "Fill your life with meaningless things and then eventually you'll die," isn't supposed to be him "being real", its a big warning sign about his outlook. He isn't invested in anything enough to take anything seriously or do anything meaningful.

When Mr Peanutbutter said what else can the universe owe BoJack, I realise that on the outside, people always feel that if you are lucky to have certain privileges, you automatically have no excuse to be unhappy with your life. And that made it harder for BoJack to come to terms with the damage his mom brought to him, because he is supposed to be satisfied by having much more than other people, despite not having the emotional healing that he truly needed instead.

This is something that the new season dug deeper at, and it seems in season 6 this personality flaw is going to drag him down, and it will not be pretty to say the least. Mr. Peanutbutter evidently cannot be alone, and with each failed marriage it's becoming more painfully obvious that he needs something, or rather, someone to continually validate his existence and worth. In his relationships, he is more concerned with putting on a show of love rather than actually loving his partner. Hence, his obsession with grand, over-the-top gestures, which he has come to believe earns him brownie points with his partner. He isn't malevolent in this, mind you, but it seems he enters relationships for the wrong reasons, and the fact he is constantly throwing himself in the mix, be it at his parties, or some new gig, shows that he can't simply be content with himself. He needs to prove to himself and others that he can be loved.

BJ wanted contention but refused to admitted he wanted people to care about him and the dead of his mother, so he told everyone that he don't want attention because of that, while MPB told everyone that because his mother died he wanted all the love and support he could have from the crew. Both wanted the same but their means to obtain what they want are different.

Honestly, both characters are correct and in the wrong at the same time. Bojack is right to be annoyed at Mr. Peanutbutter’s constant attempts to be his friend, even when he’s not interested. It’s not like his disinterest is hidden, either. However, Mr. Peanutbutter isn’t wrong to point out that much of Bojack’s misery is his own fault and that, despite everything he has, he chooses to continue to wallow in self-pity. Of course, this does negate the mental scars that Bojack’s abusive past caused, but, even so, Mr. Peanutbutter isn’t wrong that Bojack chooses to be miserable, instead of bettering himself.

Todd was also another character I wish had gotten more development. He started off as a kid who was insecure and lacked purpose unless he was busy going off on his Todd shenanigans. In the Chicken 4 Dayz episode in season 2, Todd was going through some existential crisis where he felt like his life was purposeless and phoned PC to ask her to give him some direction in life. It was a really interesting aspect of his character, but I felt like once they started to focus more on his asexuality, characteristics like that were glossed over. I feel like they also wanted to do more with Todd and Emily but sort of just buried it under the sand when they couldn’t figure out how to develop them more. They tried again in Season 5 to expand on it, but seemed to exist for the sole purpose of reminding us that character exists rather than doing something with her. Ralph also seemed to just fade into obscurity without much explanation or growth. They brought him back again as well in season 5 for a brief episode that lead to pretty much nothing happening that was relevant to the plot. I feel like from Seasons 4-6 the writing for the side characters got messy since the writers didn’t seem to know what they wanted to do with them. Which is why I felt their arcs in season 6 felt rushed.

I'm also really glad we didn't see Mr. Peanutbutter abruptly switch to sympathetising with Bojack because even though Bojack has his issues and it's sad, it doesn't take back what he did and how it affects others. The reveal of why Bojack mistreats Mr. Peanutbutter, because he's happy and Bojack's jealous of that, was also amazing. Bojack and Mr. Peanutbutter really were great foils to each other and great characters in general.

Mr peanut butter is sarcastic to this question with his answers but tells him that HIS WIFE told him. While the two weren’t compatible, they weren’t cruel to each other. They did try to be a good honest couple because that’s what a good marriage does. Bojack COULDNT EVEN understand this. He THOUGHT Diane didn’t tell mr peanutbutter. Because that’s what a person trying to avoid problems would do. Bojack can’t get what a good marriage is and what good morals are because of himself and his fucked up role models in his youth.

This is one of this rare scenes where PB put off his "good boyo" mask and he shows that he is as hard and tragic character as BoJack or Diane or etc. He just wanna be a good friend, good boyfriend, good husband, but no one taking his attemps in a serious way. For everyone around he is just stupid and naive. But that's totally false. He understand everything that surrounds him and being misunderstood hurts him. Another detail I found surprising about this was how despite him knowing all this time and also fully knowing how much Bojack slates at him, he still considers him a “good friend”

This episode was a real game changer showing MPB wasn't as NAIVE as we thought he was. Able to get serious when necessary. And it made him even more likeable as he was able to forgive Bojack so easily. He never held a grudge, he was always true to his character. And I just love that Bojack actually opens up too instead of just being in denial or avoiding the awkward situation

I'll say this Mr. Peanut Butter does have a point. Bojack does tend to be a total asshole. I mean no guy in their right mind would want to be friends with someone. After finding out they kiss their wife course. Everytime Bojack gets a good thing in his life. He does tend to screw things up.

I kinda like how everyone had the intuition to know this was about to be serious and cutting, despite the fact that it’s still Mr peanut butter. Even tho he was still the goofy retriever he always was everyone saw something different this time and knew shit was going to go down.
