BOILING POINT || FIRST TIME WATCHING || Movie Reaction

Boiling Point (2021)
Boiling Point is a 2021 British drama film directed by Philip Barantini and written by Barantini and James Cummings. It stars Stephen Graham, Vinette Robinson, Ray Panthaki, and Hannah Walters. It is a one-shot film set in a restaurant kitchen. It is an expansion of a 2019 short film of the same name, also directed by Barantini and starring Graham. ~From Wikipedia
Anyone who has ever worked in a restaurant will relate to this film. From dishwashers, wait staff, bartender, hostess, line cook, chef, business owner... just adding keywords here ;p oh, pastry chef!
I keep hearing great thing about The Bear (Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri) but I tried one episode and it was too chaotic, I couldn't handle it lol. But maybe I should give it another try.
Other recommendations for films would be Burnt (Bradley Cooper, Sienna Miller). Is that any good? I've heard Chef (Jon Favreau) is pretty realistic.
What is your favourite movie based in a restaurant?

    Fun fact about this movie. It was all filmed in one long take, like stage acting, but just with cameras. People only taking breaks when the camera pans away from them, hence you see a couple little mistakes, but in the context of a fast paced kitchen the mistakes just feel like general fluster'ness. They had intended to film the whole thing 5 times and take the best one for the movie, but due to lockdown/covid they only managed 3 takes and took the third take for the movie. But yeah, it gives some perspective about shots like following someone all the way outside to take out the trash, smoke, talk in the car and walk back in. I imagine everyone inside taking a quick breather and preparing

    My girlfriend's brother was a chef at some fine dining restaurants, with his main love being in working as a pastry chef. Eventually he worked up to being head chef. I can attest to his food being absolutely outstanding. However the job took a massive toll on him. With all that talent he has for making amazing food, he's now a fork lift driver at a warehouse. I know another French fine dining chef who left that stress to become a taxi driver.

  • @octaviussludberry9016
    @octaviussludberry9016Ай бұрын

    I used to be a chef. I don't miss much about it. The stress...constant stress...you're at a level when you start and it goes up and up till service, then you're ramped...hyper-focused and also aware of everything at the same time....then you drop a bit after service, but it doesn't stop...you're prepping...then service again. Add in the manager/head chef barking at you...complaints from idiot customers because some minor thing is not how they like it. I got a rush out of it to start, but that dwindled. The creative element was interesting, but unless you're a sous or head chef, you rarely get listened to in terms of dish creation. So many chefs are alcoholics, or speed/coke freaks in order to cope. Then there's the physical toll, on your feet for long shifts, bent over, in the heat.

    Having worked (not very well) in the hospitality industry and for the most part: alongside (but not in) the kitchen as a waiter, this was very relatable and I hate to use the term (but it was) "triggering" movie for me. I found it to be one of the most negative and depressing times of my life and the hospitality lifestyle was central to that. I have a lot of respect for anyone that works in the industry. It's definitely a high pressure industry and it's no wonder chefs have often occupied the top entries in suicide lists. Excellent movie. I really "enjoyed" this reaction video.

I still am associated with my old agencies. I have been the chauffeur and personal security for Cypress Hill, Godsmack, vitamin c, the backstreet boys, Bruno Mars, lots of people associated with them like their managers and I don't know other people that do stuff for them 😁 either way I get to hang out with him for a couple days sometimes. I hung out with Three 6 Mafia for almost a week partially in Arkansas and partially in Memphis Tennessee. Come to find out that most of them are just really cool people. Cypress Hill was my favorite group to hang out with. They just wanted to go home. They were playing at the River market in downtown Little Rock Arkansas on mother's Day and they all missed their mama 😞 I'm not sure how it is in your part of the world but since cannabis isn't legal here the concert promoters are able to get around that by hiring private security which is actually either off duty or retired police officers to control everything that happens inside the venue. The police are not allowed inside the building except for an emergency situation. Therefore enforcement of the law is at the discretion of the quote, unquote hired security! The coolest celebrity person I ever met in my life was Sherman hemsley... Also known as George Jefferson 😁 I was hired to be his personal security guard and chauffeur while he spoke to a predominantly black college here in Little Rock Arkansas the Flanders Smith University. Coolest man I ever met in my life. Hope you have a wonderful weekend. ❤️

    High end hospitality is in a state of crisis now. It has always been a very demanding job, this being a very realistic portrayal of a restaurant. Cultural changes mean that young people will just not stand to be spoken to like that in the workspace, in some countries it is actually illegal to do so. The hours are long and unsociable, the pay is terrible(UK and Australia experience)and really most of the roles are dead end jobs. I think in general it just makes a person feel grateful for getting out of the industry.

Surprisingly murky profession. Graham (as ever) plays the part stunningly believeably. He scares the crap out of me playing scary parts, he makes me feel his pain. By all accounts/rumours - Graham's a really nice guy in person and pretty much a dedicated family man. @@chrissiereactsNot for me, I LOVE SG, my fav brit actor. You won’t get the max number of viewers but I hope you will keep reacting to some less famous but great movies/series like this one. Highly recommend another one shot movie called Victoria. It’s German but/and it’s amazing. Great reaction!
