I have two different ways to do it , score it and dunk it in hot boiler water or use a torch to heat scored area and tap it off a bucket

Awesome I’ll have to try that. I will definitely try that way but I’ll try it on the peace of glass that I’m replacing first. It can turn out to be a very expensive screw up. That type of glass isn’t cheap ether. Again thanks for the advice. Have a great day!!
Now is the Sightglass on a boiler itself the same time of glass. I know as a boiler operator that a Sightglass on a 1200HP hurst boiler a special type of glass and very expensive any tricks to cutting that kind of glass I hear you can’t is this true?

@Backcountry Explorer there are different types of glass and this would only work on the the standard and HP tubular glass. This is especially useful on those. The thick walled or extra heavy would not fit a sharpie into it. After etching the glass a hardwood dowel would be a suggestion. It would also be best to score that glass around its complete diameter.
