Boil Okra And Drink The Liquid, THIS Will Happen To Your Body!
Okra is popular around the world and added to a number of different recipes for its taste. However, okra can provide numerous health benefits for our bodies and one easy way to obtain these benefits is to boil okra and consume the liquid. Now, lets discuss some of the incredible health benefits of consuming boiled okra water.
1. First, boiled okra water, similar to an okra tea, is packed with many different vitamins, minerals and other nutrients. Boiled okra water contains good levels of vitamin K, vitamin C, manganese, folate, vitamin B6 and thiamin. It is also very low in calories, packed with antioxidants and contains some fibre.
2. Not only is boiled okra water high in vital nutrients, it is also an antioxidant powerhouse. Okra water that has been boiled can provide potent antioxidants such as polyphenols, isoquercetin, flavonoids, vitamin C and even vitamin A. This allows boiled okra water to reduce inflammation, reduce free radicals and reduce the risk of certain chronic diseases.
3. It can also help to lower and regulate blood sugar levels, which is very important for those with type 2 diabetes or prediabetes. Studies have shown that okra and okra water can help to decrease blood sugar levels as well as control blood sugar spikes. Boiled okra water, when consumed, can also help to slow down and decrease the absorption of sugar in the digestive tract.
4. Lastly, boiling okra and consuming the water can help to lower the risk of heart disease. When consumed regularly, it can help to lower total cholesterol levels. As well, the rich source of polyphenol antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds can also help to reduce damage to the cardiovascular system.

Hi Kate, yes soaking is another way you can get these benefits. I would just allow them to soak for much longer, with some recommending overnight. A few hours should suffice. Thank you and enjoy :)

Great question Les, by boiling okra, it allows for many nutrients, especially water soluble nutrients, to enter the liquid, also known as "leeching". Since you will be drinking the water, you will still be getting the wonderful nutrients. Thank you for your question and for watching!

It sounds crazy, and when i first ate boiled okra, i didn't find it pleasant. My dad liked it. For some reason it was extra slimy when he boiled it, and when he put it in gumbo, but now i like it, and this doesn't surprise me about boiled okra water. If done right, it isn't as slimy. Or maybe i've just gotten used to it. Pickle water is great for you too. You ever heard of black garlic? Then there's garlic and honey in a mason jar, but you let it sit for a day or so... You have to burp the jar though in the beginning or it might leak or become an issue when you try to open it. I'd like to figure out how to make black garlic, and use that for the honey and garlic thing. It's supposed to be very healthy. Black garlic, if that's the correct term even, is using slightly high heat for an extended amount of time, days to weeks i believe. It unlocks some type of molecules in the garlic.
