After the success of wiring up the dream stomp station for gigging in Music City, PG's video crew work with Scale Model Guitars' luthier Dave Johnson to construct a T-style partscaster with parts from StewMac, Lollar, Gotoh, VegaTrem, Hipshot, Gator, Art of Tone, and others. And afterwards John Bohlinger takes downtown to Layla's to test it out!

    At first i thought that was going to look terrible (because of the trem). That VegaTrem bridge is actually classy and the only time a tele looked better with the trem. I thought it was gonna ruin a nice spec list with Lollar's and Hipshot's (basically a splurge build). Looks nice and that innovation blew my mind (no heavy altering your tele). You just run springs through the string ferule holes? The simple genius thing is right there in front of the eyes. I assume you can deck it if you tighten them enough, and the string are somehow loaded either through those springs or the the actual bridge somehow. Looks classic tele enough to rip "tulsa time" for sure.

  • @stringlocker

    @stringlocker

    @@elambassist it's true what you say "as it was designed". In the beginning the people working at Gibson were guitar makers. The people working at fender barely knew what a guitar was. That's not to knock anything all I play is fenders. To reset a neck on a Gibson or fix a headstock break a luthier is required. But anybody can screw a fender together

    I built my own tele partscaster. Super light swamp ash, installed the frets and painted it myself. Everything came together just right and it's an amazing guitar. If I bought it from the fender custom It would probably cost me $3K or more. Fender is crazy. I couldn't build a Les Paul though.

    Now the truth...... Vocally, it sucked. The mixing of volumes was horrendous and the woman singer didn't get a chance due to equipment failure. The guitar player, ought not to sing or improve at doing so, at least, not be shy on shouting out the song's lyrics. The "song", a cover, as usual geared to the lower percentile alcohol induced patron. The rhythm part of the guitar playing was great because you could hear it. When it went down hill is when he included a slide effect that sucked, a nice solo showing the guitar gear improvements would have been preferable. The violin saved the effort by filling the holes of the whole thing. You can bring the house down with a massive rhythm tone with a lot of bass, like an unstoppable train. Concerning wining the guitar, more power to anybody that wants it and hopefully, it goes to someone that can't afford it. I hope that it is not yet another sweetwater type scam saying they would give something away just to get your demographics and email address to bombard you with gear advertising to feed your Gear Acquisition Syndrome (GAS) and you will never win.
