BOHEMIAN SWITZERLAND - Europe's largest sandstone arch, I discover historic graffiti
I leave Hrensko and walk into the Bohemian Switzerland National Park to see Pravčická Brána, Europe's largest natural sandstone arch, witness the distruction left by a wildfire, and discover 250 year old graffiti carved into rocks.
Filmed June 2023 | Hrensko, Czechia.

Fantastic place to walk. Wish I was there walking that beautiful trail.
Could I gently remind you that last time you followed an unknown track from a place, you ended up in an impassable Scottish peat bog! 🙂
I felt exhausted just watching you. Beautiful country. Great video.
We happened to pass by train last year when the forest fire was going on, and I made a short video of it. What a coincidence! Nice adventure, nice video!
Your channel always reminds me how big the world is because you take me to places I've never even heard of! Mighty impressive arch that, and you're displaying some good fitness there Scott!

Considering the amount of coffee Scott drinks, the number of unhealthy breakfasts/lunches, and how much he sits on planes, trains, busses and everything, there must be a reason why he is still so skinny .....
Bratwurst is great for breakfast. I used to stop by a sausage stand at 7 am before I gave lectures at 8 am (Bremen, Germany 🇩🇪)
Great video Scott and seriously impressive hiking stamina.
What a stunning trip and I am in no way shape or form fit enough to do this walk. It's a spectacular place.
Those gorges look absolutely great !
Hi Scott, great video, aus always 🙂! The writing "Gemeinschaft" doesn't necessarily have to be a remnant of the occupation during WW II but also can date back to the centuries in which the area was settled by german speaking people as well ach czech ones.
Scott, this is an excellent set up. I like the idea of establishing a base, staying there for 6 - 10 days, and exploring the surroundings. A day trip and a video for each place worth visiting.
Hi Scott , I just love watching your videos. You go to some really interesting places. It almost feels like I am there too exploring all those nooks and crannies. Great video.
Looks lovely. Never been in these parts of Czech Republic, but I rarely miss a certain festival in eastern part, close to Polish border, which is also pretty good looking. Beautiful countryside all around, it seems.
You are not wrong about it looking like the Blue mountains. I think if i was travelling all that way i would be looking at staying at Dresden for art and culture. I have been a follower for several years.
Agree the mountains look more like the great divide than the swiss alps
Stunning Vlog @Scott
This was an outstanding episode Scott! Thank you for sharing this! ❤
Great video Scott
Another great video
Delightful. Thank you.
GOAT
Scott you definitely pickl lovely places love them all
Hi Scott you amaze me you are supper fit thanks for the video John 😊
Nature giveth and nature taketh away!
what stunning views,,,,,,, brian d.
Now all you need to find Scott is a cable car that runs through a tunnel while traversing an international border...
nice to see, i have bene in the sand stone area 35 years ago but did not know about this part. you might also like little swiss in luxmburg though it is less stunning but also with gorges
Scott you must have slept well after that vlog all those steps looked like very hard work great vlog BTW . 👍
Hi Scott , I believe the Ayrshire coastal path takes you through part of the golf course at Turnberry……

I think Janey Godley found that out too on her famous Trump outing..,
G’day Scott. Great videos . We have visited Dresden before and if we ever get back we will definitely visit these areas. Patrick my other half who was born in Sydney said it reminds you of the Blue Mountains before we heard you say it ( lol) . Thanks for taking us along with you. Ooh we love Bratwurst ( lol). Debbie
My goodness that looked hard work
Love your video's have you ever thought of exploring Canada and the USA we are not as old as over there but we have some beautiful country I would love to have you as a passenger on my bus. But I must say that is very beautiful country

What a Dump, like Birmingham or even wose Liverpool
There's lots of golf courses with footpaths across in the chilterns. There's one just two miles away from me.
Scott, I'm betting you slept well that night. 😎👍
I felt exhausted just watching that hike! Thanks for taking us with you exploring that beautiful area. That neck of the woods had been part of Bohemia, which was part of the Austro-Hungarian empire for quite a while until 1918. So any graffiti or other relicts that say 1883 or similar have no relation to Germany - even though it's just a stone's throw away - but are, in fact, part of the Austrian imperial heritage.
The South West Coast Path, Seaton to Lyme Regis section, passes through a golf course just as you leave Seaton. It's a lovely view back down towards the sea.
not a train or a plane in sight, but a wonderful day, thanks
Hi Scott. The sandstone around that area is certainly reminiscent of the Blue Mountains & other areas around Sydney. Even the canyon isn't too different to some of those found in the Blue Mountains. The vegetation is very different however. The pine forests don't seem to start recovering from a devastating fire as quickly as the Australian bush. There doesn't seem to be much soil erosion though (good thing) which can be a real problem after a fire, especially on steep hill sides.
Used to use a public footpath near Bowood House in Wiltshire that went across an aircraft landing strip. Took longer to cross than an aircraft to land.
I think the sign said Menza had a bus-that's probably why
I have just recorded the 757 Like, that must be a Boeing of Like.
Hi there, great sharing. We are a group of 4 planning the same place you go in October. How did you go to hrensko from decin? thanks alot
Good video scott could you do sloy dam walk one day maybe
Interesting what you said about the origin of the name for the area. I was told that "Schweiz" (Switzerland) becomes part of the name for an area when it's extremely beautiful (e.g., Holsteinische Schweiz, Fränkische Schweiz), so as a reference to the stunning beauty of CH - but that may have been complete fabrication by the person who had told me many years ago. I did believe them, though! 😄
Wow what an amazing location
I had no idea that there were any natural sandstone arches in Europe! Here in the USA, there are many in the southwest and a few in places like Kentucky as well. But I would have never guessed that such a large arch would exist there. Thanks for enlightening me with such an enjoyable vid!

Norther Bohemia is mostly on sandstone - copy paste "Tiské stěny" or "Prachovské skály" or "Drábské světničky" or "Údolí Plakánek" insert in YT and enjoy.
So much hard work in this one. Excellent video! You must be the hardest working KZreadr. Really well put together and very enjoyable 😊
I was just imagining what it would be like after hiking up to Natural Arch in Arches National Park, you looked to the left and there was a restaurant with bratwurst and beer!
You've got stamina, my friend. I think I used to.
More like Bohemian British Columbia!
I love seeing going all these countries. Can you speak the countries language?
Switzerland is such a incredible country and is famous for the Alps. I wonder why it doesn’t need to have Euro currency and is still part of Europe. Beautiful mountains as well. 😍

WTF. First of all this is in Czechia (Bohemia= todays medieval western Czechia) and secondly Switzerland is in Europe but not part of the European Union/Eurozone and don't use the Euro but the CHF. There are also some EU Countries that doesn't use the Euro which are in the EU but not in the Eurozone like Sweden.
Woohoo, first in, been loving this "week in" series. But where's the cheese and chocolate for a pretend Switzerland?
Only one way I'm doing that gig, on a push bike. Rent one, take your own, it's the only way to see it all and sense it all without spending too many days wearing out shoe leather. Don't thanks me, you can have it for free.😉
So, how did you pay, at the station or on the tram?
Forests evolved to burn, it is how the renew.

in a natural world this works well, but in our modern world with the human factor/intrusion erosion and certain insect plagues often enough kick in harder then ever after a fire and plenty of spots sadly do not recover anymore on their own. The increasingly warmer and dryer sommers also dont help. And this region also got some pretty bad flooding lately, which eroded some vital valleys further. Thankfully in those tourist spots a lot of cash is thrown at the problem and they try to help nature along ... but there are spots in the saxon/bohemian switzerland which dont get that attention and they look increasingly worst over the past decades.
What a horrible fire.😮 You need to hydrate more! Keep thinking you are going to fade away…
Don’t know how you get the strength to continue….please get and drink more water so you don’t get dehydrated 😂😂
Not anywhere as good as the Arches National Park in Utah.
Why doesn't he travel to Bangkok, ffs
Wow wow wow pls no more walking videos pls am bloody knackered just watching you, lmao lmao great video again scott best wishes
