I know right john its one of the most underrated bassist slash songwriter ever. Hw wrote some of queen greatest hits. He was an amazing songwriter.

They wanted to cast him for months, but when he sent in his audition tape, it also took him a long time to get accepted for the role. They really wanted the casting to be perfect, and they got as close as they possibly could!

His portrayal of John was very much an underrated performance of the movie. I didn’t see joe Mazzello I saw John Deacon in that film.

Well, Deaky was underrated too. They needed more of him in the movie, like his inventions (amp) and sweet personality.

There’s something about him that I cannot explain, but I am being magnetised to him. He’s so pleasant and welcoming. Joseph Mazzello has charisma. I am thankful that I watched Bohemian Rhapsody because I discovered him.

The first two times I saw the movie, I was tearing my hair out going, "I KNOW the guy who plays John Deacon! He must be a child actor! Something about his eyes or face is so recognisable!" Finally Wikipedia put me out of my anguish.

As a bass player, I congratulate Joseph on his playing and his performance. I never once saw him do anything that took me out of the moment and made me stop believing that he was John.

Great job by the casting director. I do wish Deaky would’ve made the exception on this one and show up. It is his life tho but still, I think if there was one exception it should’ve been this one. Killer movie tho, I loved it.

He's such a great actor and seems like a very respectful guy also him doing the moves to radio Gaga was awesome!

What I like about this young man is his comment about why Queen were and still are so popular, he noted the vocal harmonies as well as the ability to keep creating new sounds, so many groups these days seem to have one tune, apparently 5 hours long that they just release bits of, because everything sounds exactly the same!

He and Rami had no direct reference, for JD didn't show up during film shooting as well and Fred is dead as we know. Awesome JD style ... what a legend!

Freddie walks into the bar and, just before seeing Mary, walks past a young man who winks at him. That's Luke Deacon. Luke attended the world premiere, and apparently Joe Mazzello has remained in frequent contact with him. Luke and another of John's sons has seen the film and complimented Joe on his performance. I hope for Joe's sake that John Deacon does the same.

I can't say enough how this guy went from being a child actor with a starring role as Spencer in Star Kid, all to having newfound success as an adult with this major role! That's rare for a child star! 😉👍

He really had a presence in the movie. Well done, and I hope casting directors make note of him. All in all incredible casting in Bohemian Rhapsody.

A fantastic performance from an underrated actor. I hope the success of BR makes casting directors take notice.

The casting for this film is the best I've seen. They all did amazingly well, including Joseph, and he's right, we musicians do look for that kind of thing and good actors always go the extra mile, whether it be about music or anything else. Most music films don't do that at all, only the best ones do. This is the best music biopic I've ever seen and I've seen a lot of them, I've also seen this one several times already. The best films do well because people go back and watch them again. That's not to say that the highest grossing films are always good, but this one most certainly is. A very clever and entertaining film, a nice tribute to Freddie, and it will ensure that new generations rediscover Queen's music.

I watched *"Bohemian Rhapsody"* yesterday, and OMG! What a movie! It's the best movie I'd seen since *"Jersey Boys".* I was literally singing along to all the songs that I recognised sung by Queen. Everything from "Bohemian Rhapsody" to "Radio Ga-Ga", I sang along to, not knowing or caring who could hear me. It was that awesome of a movie. :)

He had several big roles as a child actor both before and after Jurassic Park. He took a break to attend college and came back with one of the lead roles in the Spielberg/Hanks mini-series The Pacific, which was the sequel to Band of Brothers. Fantastic performance.

Love him a lot! I really think he will be an amazing Deacon

I LOVE how passionate he looks about everything. 😍 That is something that the other guys don't seem to have as much as Joe

Brian and Roger have said that he doesn't really engage in social contact with them anymore, although he's still involved in business decisions regarding the band. It sounds like he's chosen a reclusive lifestyle.

Always loved Queen. They will always be one of my favorite bands. I was in junior high in the early 80s and loved their music so much. Wish I could have seen them in concert. John is so underrated but he made many great contributions.

I think he obviously was hit hard, as all of them, but I guess it wasn't the only reason he retired. Maybe he wasn't enjoying that way of life and that profession in general to carry on. Maybe from some moment on he had been forcing himself to be a working musician at all.

Yeah. It's almost like how Dave Grohl felt after the loss of Kurt. I personally think that Freddie's death was worse. Kurt didn't want to live, Freddie did :/

He actually has been behind the lens! He directed a movie called 'Undrafted' back in 2016, based on his brother's experience with trying to get drafted into Major League baseball. I definitely recommend it, it's a great movie! Joe wrote, directed, co-produced AND starred in it! :D There's a cute interview of him just after 'Jurassic Park' came out where he talks about wanting to be a director, even back then :)
