Being a man in his 30s who lives abroad but who grew up in Bognor, this gives me such a sense of Nostalgia. Well done KZread algorithm. 👏

During the 70’s and 80’s Judith had the best job in television. Jetting off to far flung exotic places that most of us could only dream about.

Its so strange when i re watch this program...I remember watching it as my mum used to have it on..and I would always think that the lady presenting it was very old! But she wasnt atall looking at it now...strange how we see things through the eyes of a child lol... and how our evaluations of life differ as we get older ourselves...thank you for these uploads!

There was a guy in our halls of residence who was 21. As 18 year olds we thought he was a dinosaur. He was shunned and pitied. Mind you he was a third year student still in halls.

She's as old as the hills ffs. It's Judith Chalmers who was on Afternoons, the program that intro'd Mary Berry to British housewives in 1974 and this was 16 years after that.

Judith Chalmers seems to be a very nice lady I am sure. She presented Wish You Were Here on ITV, and made by Thames for all of its duration. The series ran from 1974 to 2003, and she was joined at times by Chris Kelly, who also did Clapperboard on ITV by Granada, and then Food and Drink later on BBC2. He then created Kavanagh QC, the ITV series that John Thaw did after Inspector Morse. Later on the series, John Carter, who had been on BBC1's similar Holiday series before, joined the team on there too. Thank you so too!

I have been to Bognor Regis before, but not to Butlin's which was not really our sort of thing too! However, the area is nice with Pagham Harbour nearby, also Chichester, Arundel, Littlehampton, Worthing, Bosham, Selsey Bill and so much more too. Thank you!

We holidayed as a family at Butlins from the early 70's through to the late 90's, mostly at Bognor. Around 83/84, the Hi-De-Hi style era was ending. By this time in 1989, it was completely gone. Still fun times, but we missed the general atmosphere of the 70's and early 80's style Butlins. But without the change particularly in 1989 onwards, Butlins I don't think would exist now.

Now it can be £4500 for 2 weeks in August, absolutely ludicrous, shame, used to be an amazing low cost holiday, now it's just a commercial machine, lost all the innocent charm it had in the late seventies to early eighties, it was paradise then for kids.having said that people still go there but you need to be reasonably well off now to go there, not sure what sir Billy would think of it now, probably not a lot.

My Mum felt that it was expensive even in the 80s - 90s. To secure you next holiday it was a £50 deposit, the same amount as a cruise line was taking as deposit in the 2010s. From memory £50 was a lot of money in the early 80s. Still enjoyed it though, especially the model car / scalextric track shop.

@@ianmillerphotography cheers Ian for reminding about the scalextrix room, I remember that, many hours in there as a kid just putting cars back on the track that flew off on the corners, as for the value of the holiday now compared to late 70s to early eighties so much was included in the price of the holiday, we could have an amazing time as kids with no pocket money, now a lot of the attractions carry an additional cost hence my describing it now as a commercial machine 👍

@Phil Bartlett - I went back there in 2003, well Minehead actually and it wasn't the same. More commercialised. One plus point though, the Jordan racing team were there with one of their cars. I got to practice changing an F1 car wheel.
