Boggart 🍤 : The Prawns tell a Story | Elden Ring Lore

Ойындар

Boggart, our prawn Bro, a fellow Tarnished beckoned to the Lands Between by Grace... After meeting a fateful end at the hands of the Dungeater, we are left to wonder at what he may have been capable of. We hope you enjoy this dive into a character with more depth than expected, including a look at the volcano Manor, Rya and Patches, the Dungeater, Tarnished quests, Grace, the Erdtree, Crabs and Lobsters, and more.

    Mending Rune of Carcinisation: Rune discovered by your partner, Big Boggart. Used to restore the fractured Elden Ring when brandished by the Elden Lord. When it all comes down to it, fixing the world is pretty intuitive: Treat others well, and they will treat others well in turn. Give gold to the poor, give the outcasts a place to call home, cure scoundrels of their rudeness with kindness, and feed the hungry.

    This makes me think of an ending I’d like to hide in a game like this. It’d require a difficult path, one where you need to resist your own instinct for the sake of kindness. Aiding and showing kindness to such a seemingly insignificant figure, one who initially would draw you to react with derision and disgust, only to prove there is a person worth caring about, even in a broken, battle worn world like this. Mend the rune and make a world that brings out the good in all.

    If only From took the time to give a multiple choice to that like how they did with Solaire in Dark Souls 1. I'm guessing if they did think that through they didn't have the time due to just how big a project Elden Ring was for them by comparison. It'd be nice if in a future DLC or patch update they could flesh him out as well as some of the other questlines that they had to give up. It still bugs me, for example, that a supposedly wandering people of tradesmen just stick to one site of grace and don't move. I get it with the ones stuck underground but you'd think Kale at least would pick his butt up and go to, say, a different shack in Limgrave every now and then.

Like if Doctor Who was a crappy "friendly English neighborhood" soap opera. There's 1000s of episodes and they routinely embarrass us - millions more Brits tuned in to watch a fictional marriage on the show instead of watching the Royal Wedding of the now-King Charles III that same day lmfao Right confusing, putting the name of a Corrie actor to the face of Boggart!

    12:45 No, I don't see Rya pulling a con like that on Boggart. She's too simple and kind for plotting a scheme like this. Remember, Rya is a girl who doesn't even know what's going on in her own home. A schemer would be curious or intuitive enough to guess what's happening behind the scene, but Rya is heartbroken after discovering what an awful place her home truly is. Rya is so innocent, it isn't even safe for her to venture out of the mannor alone... which in a sense she doesn't, because at least in Liurnia, Patches is close enough to keep an eye on her, especially around a scary character like Boggart. Sure, Boggart may have ruffled a few of her feathers, but Patches would not have allowed true harm to come to her. I'd say first idea for searching champions was Tanith's, but the test it self was probably something Patches came up with, and Ray and Boggart were there just along for the ride. Rya probably had no idea she was meant to be looking for people capable of committing murder, but rather heroes who didn't shy when a maiden like her was in trouble. At least, that's what I think transpired.

  • @1CJMac1

    @1CJMac1

    Жыл бұрын

    No, Rya knows what the Volcano Manor is all about and its mission. To kill Tarnished serving the Golden Order in the name of Rykard. But that's as far as her need to know goes. Patches is not guaranteed to be close by, he only shows up if you've defeated him and then spared him. He could either be in the cave still or dead depending on your choices. Rya still shows up, she is a SCOUT aka a recruiter She's unaware of the greater area of the manor because Tanith restricts her knowledge of it via locked doors and illusions, since Tanith feels knowledge of her origins would hurt her. Rya's quest is ultimately about her realising who she is and accepting it, leaving on a journey after, to become more grown up. But she never relents on Tanith's doctrines, she wants to come back someday so she can better serve Tanith's vision.

    Interestingly the word “bog” means God in many Cyrillic languages (“бог”). Of course we can interpret this word by it’s English definition, which means swamp (makes sense, as we find him in Liurnia) but as a Slavic person it’s hard not to associate the name with something godly, or heroic. I know it’s a reach, but I find it interesting that this character who is made out to be a thug has a name that in some languages gives him a closer connection to God than most other characters in the lands between, especially given his story. FromSoft has a pretty strong reputation of pulling obscure details from different cultures in order to season their worlds, this especially shines in their very intentional nomenclature, so who knows. Food for thought 🦐

    Pro-tip for anyone who wants to Fight/Work With the Dung Eater but save Boggart for his Services/Friendship, before going to Altus, attack Boggart enough to make him Hostile, and then follow the steps to defeat the Dung Eater in the moat before using Absolution in the Church of Vows. The Dung Eater sits in his spot in the Gaol and his quest can be completed as there are a total of 6 Seedbed Curses Available, including the one found on Boggart, and only 5 are needed for the Mending Rune. Meanwhile, Boggart sells his crab for as long as you want.

    Maybe a silly idea, but Boggart drops his bell bearing. We don't really know what these are but we give them to the Twinmaiden Husks and they're holding a staff full of - what looks like - sleigh bells. Maybe we give them these bell bearing so they slot them inside these? And what we know about bells in Elden ring? That's right, they summon spirits. So... We can buy things and learn ashes of war because Twinmaiden actually summon a spirits for us? This mean that Boggart's soul might be actually safe inside this bell bearing. Died before Dungeater could complete his corruption (his bell looks like any other normal bella , not horned or corrupted in any way) Just a fan-fic after ending: Maybe when it's all over we could return his soul to the Erdtree and allow him the rebirth? Who really knows. All souls games were open for interpretation after all
