My dad was a pilot. Inspired by Lindbergh as a kid, he earned his pilot's license while he was in high school. He earned his wings in 1942, then flew out of England and Italy, and continued to fly planes past his 80th birthday. He was an aerospace engineer for Boeing in the 1960s and 1970s. This is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. The wings on that plane are gorgeous. I wish Dad could have seen this. Cheers to the Boeing team and test pilots Mike Bryan and Randy Neville. There's no way it could be as easy as you guys make it look.
And the whole time all the pilots are hearing is "BANK ANGLE BANK ANGLE.... WHOOP WHOOP PULL UP, TOO LOW GEAR, TOO LOW FLAPS, SINK RATE SINK RATE, WHOOP WHOOP PULL UP!"

Flew from Australia to New Zealand on one of these. I have to say one of the best flights I have experienced
As a pilot who loves aviation, I have to say this is pretty freakin' awesome to watch. I love how the pilot does a touch and go like it's a training flight in 4-seater! Keep flyin'!

Beautiful plane and superb performance! Saw it in production at Everett, now i want to fly on it.
An absolutely beautiful jet! It's stunning to see it in this light. Wonderful video!
It still amazes me how something so big and heavy can fly so majestically and smooth.
That 45 or maybe almost 50 degree climb after take off at the beginning was just insane. #boeing rocks!!
Some of the most spectacular air to air footage I've ever seen. Congrats Boeing, the -9 looks great.

One thing we do well in America is building airplanes. Boeing is one of the best. Years ago (1980's and 1990's) my job took me to Boeing, Grumman, McDonald-Douglas, General Dynamics, Martin-Marietta and other aerospace companies. I was getting my private pilot license when back at home in Addison, Tx on the weekends. I loved my job because I was able to see such cool aviation stuff. I was able to see F-15s being built in St. Louis, F-16s being built in Ft. Worth, MD-11s in Long Beach, Boeing 747s in Everett, an SR-71 landing at Andrews and Air Force One. Missile construction at Martin-Marietta near Kissimmee, Florida. Heck I was able to see a shuttle launch and got a tour of the VAB at NASA and so many other things. Cherished memories. I don't fly my 172 anymore but I am proud of American accomplishments. Planes are in our DNA. Orville and Wilbur would agree (been to Kitty Hawk many times too). Nothing better than to see an F-15E flyover at an airshow with ground pounding power while in after-burner. What I would give to be one of those pilots.

I just flew on the 787-8 two weeks ago. This plane is impressive and handles turbulence so well. If you get the chance to fly on the Dreamliner, DO IT!!! I'm going to fly this fabulous plane as much as I can! This video made me feel even more excited about the 787

This aircraft is so amazing! It's takeoff is so impressive!
Wow! There is no equal. Nothing can beat it.
I would have loved to have seen it do a barrel roll. The high angle climb on take off was very impressive!

Simply beautiful airplane! I spent the last four years building the 787 as an engineer and I know I love my planes more than anything else in this world. We at Boeing make these things with great passion and dedication.
Gostei!
it looked like you went 90 degree angles both turning and lift up
The 788 looked incredible viewed from the ground at Salon du Bourget last year - but seeing this vid of the 789 from the sky, WOW!
Incredible how maneuverable it is!
The beast !!!!!!
" This is your pilot, the stewardesses now will be flying about the cabin serving beverages, when one flies by try to grab a refreshment from her."
A pilot with balls of steel!! Very talented performance, give this guy a raise!

Amazing aircraft!!!
I never thought I'd say this about a modern airliner (other than concorde) but hot damn that's a beautiful aircraft. I love the upward bend on the narrow composite wings - makes her look like a gliding albatross.
That is an engineering marvel right there. That thing handles like a fighter, only massive. I've seen commercial jets fly formations and such, but never such tight turns and sharp changes in pitch. Never such agility. Guess this is what happens when nearly the entire thing is composites. Truly awesome.
Wow, beautiful. First I thought this was CGI.
Just read a comment below that he thought this plane was modified with a different engine and airframe. Picked up the phone and called my son. He said there were no modifications to increase performance. He was a test flight engineer and helped develop the plane from the ground up.

Can't wait to see this at Farnborough on Friday!
After struggling with their A350 as an answer to the Boeing 787, yesterday at the Farnborough International Air Show Airbus unveiled its plan instead to redesign their A330 Neo. But the Boeing 787-9 really got everyone's attention when it took to the sky. Earlier this week in Moses Lake, the 787-9 put on a spectacular show in preparation for Farnborough. See for yourself, it is pretty awesome!
Whats the song please? I really like it :)
Amazing!! Although I probably would not want to be a passenger on a real world flight experiencing the effects of those mid air maneuvers!! At least not without the comforting solace of a parachute.

Now, that's what I call a take-off! Lots of steep turns, woohoo :) A gorgeous airliner
is it me or did I just see this dreamliner takeoff almost vertically at 30 seconds in?
who needs CGI fake shots when the real deal is so much better
Fly's like a soaring bird the takeoff was awesome the climbing vertically was amazing the wings are so beautifully designed

i can't believe the maneuvers can perform... i was in the navy stationed on an air craft carrier & always have seen touch & go's with our jet fighter but NEVER have seen a commercial airliner do it. very impressed
Looks so light and powerful. Love it.
Folks saying this is CGI: look at the source -- it's a Boeing verified account. The chances of them going through the effort, and potential backlash, of passing off CG as real is about as close to zero as you can reasonably get.

hi, i was thinking somedays some days ago, on the touch in landig, the landing gears are stopped, when the plane touch the runway he create a very hard impact. If the tires were in the same velocity of the plane the consume of rubber and the impact are so diminished. Wold not beneficious use the force of the air in the aproximate to rotate the gears to adequate the velocity of the plane with the gears? (sorry for my poor english)
@tracywilkinson1820
9 жыл бұрын
to pre-rotate the tires would require additional needless equipment which adds weight and complexity. More weight= less fuel/passengers/range which increases cost per seat per mile. Tires on the other hand are relatively cheap.
@someshshine
9 жыл бұрын
You would also need a longer time to reduce the speed I believe. But very innovative thinking though
@22marcospaulo22

Yes, with sure this equipment will increase the weight of the airplane, but, i believe the economy with the new tire will compense the more consume of fuel..

Read Tex Johnson's book on the original 707 jetliner development. That's basically what he said they handle like when bare-bones empty. Johnson was made famous for doing a barrel-roll in the 707 over Lake Washington during the 707 initial public demonstration, without even notifying anyone in Boeing that he was going to do it.
For an object made from tons of metal. Then formed and sculptured into a plane that is so graceful in the air. It can only be art
This is absolutely incredible. Thank you so much for sharing. My Dad worked for Boeing in WWII in Seattle on the B-17 and B-29. It's a delight to see such a fantastic company doing so well. Appreciated.

I love the way she levels out and drops a little altitude after the steep climb out around 38 sec to 43 sec. At one minute... the way her wings bow up and back, reminds me of the Spirit of Ecstasy. very sleek. and at 1:14 - 1:20 , the wings bobble -- banking left , right then level. A lovely flying machine. Well done Boeing.
That last landing, with barely any smoke, the sign of an extraordinary pilot...

The plane only needs one engine and it is empty. Most people are only used to seeing what they see at an airport. Some of that is side and forward slipping, which is used to loose altitude without gaining airspeed.

Amazing and very beautiful demonstration. Striking cool, WOW look at the maneuverability of the airplane, talk about flight testing, they must have been pulling like 7 to 8 G's pulling those kind of turns and climbs. I love the flexibility and sexy smooth flush design of the Dreamliner. So inspirational, very nice indeed. Can wait to fly on one...one day God willing.
This Air Liner handles like some of the air craft I saw in my Military days.Sweet!!!!
I was at the Everett plant on the day the first 787-9 was delivered to a commercial customer. Was fun to see.
Wait a minute? is this video real? i don't think so! I mean for people who are not blind they should see that at 2:47 the plane is obviously fake?
Anyone feels the same, that it looks CGI? I mean its obviously real, but those moves are insane. I also think, that it was took with "more than 30FPS" cameras, which adds to this "CGI" look. Can we expect same display on Air Show? I would love to see that.
