Boeing 777X | Long live the king

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The Boeing 777X is a family of long-range wide-body airliners created by Boeing. It is a new generation of model 777. The family is represented by two versions: 777-8 and 777-9.
The new airliners have undergone significant modernization, including upgrades to the onboard systems, interior, and structural materials, as well as an all-new composite wing and super-powerful GE9X engines. Thanks to these solutions, the new airliners significantly surpass their predecessors and have the potential to successfully compete in the market.

    i work with aircraft daily and rarely get to work around the 747, it really feels like it's from another time, the sound of 4 engines running at the same time and the sheer size of it (it is lower to the ground than the 777 but is much larger) i'm glad that i get to see the last of these giants before they're gone.

    Dylan If you are keen on the 747 tanker or tanker operations in general then the Blancolirio Channel on KZread is well worth watching. Juan Brown who owns the site trained as a lead pilot for fire tanking but then went to an airline. Good appreciation and analysis of events and issues. kzread.info/dash/bejne/n4tkurOCZZWbhag.html Showing the 747 and some other heavy planes refuelling and rewatering. There is the Fire and Aviation playlist on the side but some films aren't included. Catch some of the old and odd planes used in these two non playlisted films. I remember when the first 777s were finishing their testing and starting deliveries, the plane was big news, a major step in commercial aviation and part of the new designs which heralded the true end for 4-engined planes. It's just as well that it turned out to be an excellent airplane, I imagine variants of it will be around for a long time.

    Wow I've always love Boeing and their products despite of its problems it has with the 737 MAX, boeing made the biggest mistake by merging with McDonnell Douglas and practicing their way of producing and selling aircraft, Boeing was all about quality vs McDonnell was all about quantity and it's bringing Boeing down with it. The 777x is the new ground breaking product for the airlines and I hope it become very successful like the 747 God willing.

I saw a KZread video where GE put one on a 747 using the plane for a test bed. Holy hell!! It dwarfed the three 747 engines on that plane. I'm thinking if a 747 used 4-777x engines, one of two things would happen. 1. The 747 would easily break the sound barrier. Or 2. The 747 would break apart bc of the stress of the high speed on the plane itself! I'm just being facetious. If they ever would try anything like that...engineers would have a new stronger body designed. Just reading y'alls comments on the engine size, made me start wondering "what if"...lol! Whilst the B777-9 will be the largest twin engine aircraft, it will have a limited market and be only purchased by will established airlines that have deep financial pockets. I think the 777x is an attractive airplane. It’s operational and financial performance however will determine its future longevity and place at the airports of the world. I suspect we are seeing a practical upper limit in aircraft size assert itself due to what is available as a practical limit on external dimensions simply due to available ground real estate available around and on airports. Future aircraft capacity growth will probably depend on developing the shapes and technology to lift and carry more cargo and people within the physical footprint size (wingspan and fuselage length) of the current heavy jets.

    Boeing could really use Alan Mulally right about now, former CEO and program manager for the original 777. There’s a great Discovery documentary that features him and the story of how the 777 was developed. On a different note I wonder how feasible a twin engine 747 with new GE9x engines could be or if it would have any advantages over a 777-9x.

    America has it's faults but they've always been the global leader in aircraft design even today. All the major breakthroughs in stealth technology, many of the breakthroughs in jet technology, and many of the speed records just to name a few of the things America brought to the world stage. Despite China's insistance they're going to be America's competitor they have to copy almost all of their aeronautic/aerospace technology from the US and Russia (who in turn have had to copy the US as well) just to try and close the gap between themselves and the rest of the world. Even European nations and Japan, who are often innovators themselves, often work with the US, license technology, and/or buy major components from the US.

    I do love the 777, but I don't want to call it the king yet. In concept, the 777-9X is a great design but it needs to proof itself first. Ask me again in 2030. I'm afraid the markets will continue to become smaller for this size of an airplane and it could become the A380 flop of the year 2035. But, again a huge 777 fan here. I started following aviation in 1994 on the 777's first flight and have followed it's entire history and I'm still fascinated by it. (777-8 flop already... 777-300ER, now we're talking! Doesn't get any sexier than that).

    The problem with the 747 and A380 in the modern era isn’t their enormous capacity, it’s the fact they use 4 engines, which obviously uses way more fuel than twin engine air liners. The Triple 7x will be a solution to this problem while also being able to serve routes the older triple 7’s were already flying.

  • @simonm1447

    @simonm1447

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@theread3480 There are still other ,,problems'' with the 380. The wings are one, it's designed for 650 t MTOW, but the -800 has only 560. Because of the needed size (850 sqm) it's aspect ratio (7.8) is too low to be optimal, it should have had 90 m of wing span instead of 80, which costs 10 % of fuel efficiency alone. The -800 should have been never launched with these wings, they should have brought this aircraft as a - 900 or as a -800 with proper, smaller wings for it. The -800 is in this case a shrink (compared to how the structure was designed for), and shrinks are usually inferior in competition.

    Point well taken! Rumor is, that the 777-9 has to be filled with more then 80% of it's max. capacity, what is around 330 passengers, to break even and it has to be full to reach the advertised fuel mileage per seat. It will be attractive for the largest airports, but the rest is going point to point and there the 787 or A350 are a superior solutions. Either there will be a surge in air travel or the 777X is going to be a relict like the A380.

    The plane was supposed to withstand 150% of the maximum load it was designed for, and during normal operation it'll experience no more than about 50% of that maximum load. During the test, the plane failed at 148% the maximum design load. That's 99% of the test loads, so because of the only 1% difference, the failure was deemed tolerable, and the plane passed. For reference, the A380's wings broke at just 145% during its tests, and the current flying A380s are identical, because they didn't change a thing to get it certified. I'd say the 777X did good enough, considering it did better than the A380 that no one complains about.
