Boeing 767 plane makes emergency landing in Istanbul without front landing gear
A Boeing 767 aircraft landed at Istanbul Airport without the front landing gear deployed. Crew on the FedEx Airlines cargo plane, flying from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, informed the traffic control tower at Istanbul Airport that their landing gear failed to open moments before crash landing on the runway. Dramatic video footage shows the moment the plane hit the tarmac sending sparks up into the air. Smoke billowed as the front end of the plane scraped along the runway before being doused with firefighting foam. No one was injured during the May 8 incident and the crew safely evacuated the aircraft, said Abdulkadir Uraloglu, Turkey’s transportation and infrastructure minister.
