Boeing 737-800 - Night departure from Tenerife - cockpit view

Last time we arrived with windy conditions in Tenerife with the Max. Today we are back on the NG, conditions are still the same in Tenerife and we are ready to depart back to Brussels. Enjoy !

    Just discovered your channel and loving the videos. Watching them helps me that little bit more with my fear of flying. I love flying but I have a fear of the engines cutting out and that’s what I think about all the time when flying 😄 I want to go overseas but don’t think I could do it just yet. 😣

  • @Lemon0Tart

    @Lemon0Tart

    5 жыл бұрын

    If you can manage your fear, then I would suggest booking a flight at a local flight school and have them take you up and show you a glide and a stall. Will do wonders for your appreciation of aircraft and how they fly, and more importantly, what would actually happen in the incredibly rare event you were on an aircraft that lost it's engines.

  • @Beeannks

    @Beeannks

    5 жыл бұрын

    Lemon0Tart thanks, that’s great advice but there is no way you would get me on a small plain 😄. My late hubby was an aircraft engineer and would tell me all the things that could go wrong and bring an aircraft down. Had no fear prior to that, but the engines failing is what I fear the most and I know if they do fail there is like 20 minutes before it goes down😣

    You don’t consider engine stall on takeoff. More than 20 degrees on pitch,engine may be stalled. Forget about the speed, disregard the FD pitch bar if you use higher thrust. Just maintain below 20degrees on pitch. Never load relief comes. After setting the climb power, pitch will be stable. Now you can follow FD.

    Nice view en good sound Maxime. Why does your company use flaps 1 at take off while others often use 5 at a standard take-off.

  • @pilotmax

    @pilotmax

    6 жыл бұрын

    Thank you. Most of the time we are climb performance limited and not runway length with the 737. The more flaps we use, the shorter will be the take of run (good for shorter runways) but the worse will be our climb performance. All this is calculated automatically in our take off performance tool and it outputs the optimum flap setting, always trying to use the most runway available (by increasing take off speeds as well but that's another story) and improve climb performance. So often the result is flaps 1. Now there is one problem with flaps 1, especially on an -800, it is far more sensitive for a tail strike, so rotation technique is very important ! Our company prohibited flaps 1 take off on the -800 until very recently. Hope that helps :)

    Thank you. Yes there is one reason : I enjoy flying manually. There only 1 way to keep your flying skill : practice, practice, practice. I didn't become a pilot to push some buttons. Fortunately I'm flying a company that thinks the same way and that doesn't force us to engage automatics. On this flight I believe I engaged the autopilot at approximately 20.000ft. As it was night and there was a lot of wind I still put the flight directors on.

  • @pilotmax

    @pilotmax

    2 жыл бұрын

    We initially target 15° after liftoff, but then we adjust pitch to maintain airspeed. In this case with very high take off thrust we need to increase pitch. Pitch can range from 10-20° approximately on a normal day with passengers. With an empty aircraft I've already seen 25-30°
