Bodycam: Oklahoma Teacher Allegedly Shows Up Drunk on First Day of Elementary School

Ойын-сауық

Bodycam footage shows a third-grade teacher being questioned by Oklahoma police after allegedly showing up heavily intoxicated on the first day of school on August 17. The video shows Kimberly Coates awkwardly denying being drunk before blowing a 0.24 BAC during a breathalyzer test. Coates would later admit to drinking late the night before and the next morning on the way to work, but denied having any alcohol on school property. The school resource officer pressed her, referencing her cup of “juice.” “Want to try again? That there is wine,” the officer said. Perkins police took Coates into custody and later released her. It’s unclear whether formal charges will be filed against her. Read more on this story: bit.ly/47JlPef

As the former wife of an addict, I agree. Of course it's possible he is abusive or something, but I didn't sense that kind of fear from her. It's telling that she refused to call *anyone* in her life (not just husband), even under threat of being arrested. The people close to her have probably had enough of the lies and worrying about her, and her husband will be stuck sharing the fallout of her arrest, job loss, and ruined career. She was trying to delay facing any of that for as long as she possibly could. Maybe this will finally be her rock bottom.

She's really accustomed to getting her way. I've been in a similar situation and I did no lying, no manipulation, no begging, I just took responsibility in the face of humiliation. This lady got treated so well, escorted out disreetly. Wasn't like that for me. It sucked but sometimes you just gotta take it on the chin and accept fate. She wasnt even living with her husband, at the end she said the key in her bag was to her Air BNB. She has a lot of work to do on herself.

This should be a top comment, much more than these "this is so sad" and "oh she needs help" comments. Obviously she needs help, but she doesn't want it, she had every opportunity to be straight up, and admit that she has an issue and work on it, but she just wasted their time and bullshitted them until their patience ran thin. No sympathy deserved here.

Unfortunately, this video takes place around 3:30pm-4:00pm. So it was towards the end of the school day when they pulled her into that room. I only noticed that when she made the claim that she last drank at 3:00am, which I was questioning the possibility of that having any effect on a breathalyzer test 5-6 hours later. Then I looked at the time stamp and saw how late in the day it was. She was at school all day and blew ~.24 BAC at the end of the day. That’s why everyone in the room, including the accused, is basically 100% confident that she has been drinking throughout the school day.
