Dimash recorded this Japanese song in Beijing where he is currently based due to many appearances he has to make throughout China. He sent the recording to the Tokyo Jazz Festival for the online concert presented on Sunday 11/28/2021 (Japan is still in lockdown). Dimash has been flying between Wuxu (near Shanghai) and Beijing to record episodes of the reality tv series "Shine! Super Brothers 2" and already has a fabulous new version of "Stranger" for Ep 2 of the show. He is also appearing in various events, awards ceremonies, magazine shoots and performances. On this special year for the festival, the artist performed the poignant Japanese song «Ikanaide» - «Don’t Go» (also known in its Chinese version as «Autumn Strong») by legendary singer and composer Koji Tamaki. The song is about Yoshiko Yamaguchi (山口 淑子), a Chinese-born Japanese actress during World War II. She hid her Japanese heritage under the name Li XIanglan. She became famous in China. However, once the war was over and she revealed her identity, she was accused of being a spy and she was deported back to Japan and didn't go back to China for many years, as it was forbidden at that time. Ms Yamaguchi did return to China in her later years as the Japanese Parliamentary Vice Minister of Environment. This song is saying goodbye to her Chinese name Li Xianglan. The song is a metaphore, as lyrics speak of how a person has to hide what feels inside. Original Japanese version by Koji Tamaki (JAP: 玉置 浩二) under title 行かないで (JAP: Ikanaide), released 20th of Nov 1989. Later it was translated to Cantonese and sang by 张学友 (CN: Jacky Cheung ) recorded for an album "Your dream" (夢中的你) and realeased 23rd July 1990 as 李香蘭 (CN: Li Xianglan / sometimes used as "Lei Heung Lan"). Jacky changed the key from B minor to A minor. The song was used in Chinese television serie called "Li XIang Lan". Next the song was translated for Jacky Cheung to Mandarin Qui Yi Nong (Late Autumn). In 2004 the Taiwanese singer and Dimash's firned Terry Lin arapted the song into new version entitled "In deep autumn", lyrics by Daryl Yao. Dimash sang it for the first time during The Singer 2017. He had only 1 week to learn it. He interpreted Taiwanese version sang by Terry Lin with Mandarin lyrics. This song earn Dimash the "Best Foreign Singer" award during Golden Melody Award in Hong Kong.

Yoshiko had been married in China. Once she was deported, her husband was arrested, and later died. She had not known what had happened to him until she returned to China many years later. Such a sad story! Love from Canada.

The back story is on Gloria Wu channel with Autumn Strong. Koji Tanaka composed the song in Japanese and then they interpreted the song in mandarin and Dimash sings the China version at all his concerts. He decided to sing the Japanese version for the Tokyo Jazz Festival. I love it. The lyrics are beautiful and Koji sings it beautiful. Check it out.

The song sounds like Autumn Strong normally sung in Chinese by Dimash. Now he's doing it in Japanese. I know this song very well because it's my favorite that Dimash sings. Look at Dimashs concert in New York 2019, AUTUMN STRONG.

Dimash sang this song in the singer competition in 2017. You may be familiar with the title used at that time as Autumn Strong. I believe that version had subtitles. If not there is one with subtitles from one of his concerts. On the singer he sung the song in Mandarin here he sings it in Japanese which is the original language of the song. This is a live stream performance for the Tokyo jazz festival 2021 just as he did a live stream of Samaltau for the Tokyo jazz festival in 2020.

Hi, Beautiful reaction to a beautiful song. Not a love song as such in the terms of girlfriend/partner but a tribute to a Japanese born artist who deflected to China and hid her identity under a Chinese name. She became very adored by the Chinese people and when Dimash sang this on Ep4 of the Singer 2017 he sang in Mandarin for the first time as the song is very dear to them. After the war her ireal dentity was exposed and she was taken back to Japan and never saw China again, so very emotional song. This was for the Tokyo Jazz Festival last weekend and when Dimash performed two songs last year for it he recorded in his own studio at home, he was supposed to perform live on his birthday 24th May but of course covid had hit, so virtual. I assume this was a studio in China as Dimash is there for about three months catching up on work that was postponed 18 months ago, he his also taking part in a reality show "Shine - Super Brothers" and you should take a look at the version of "Stranger" he performed on the show, its even more phenomenal !! 👍👍😊😊Get well soon 👍

Now he has produced it in Japanese honouring the original composers work, who also sang it. Maybe u remember it as Autumn Strong. All about a Japanese singer who lived in China during the war and hid her identity. She was revered and much loved. But once pple knew she was Japanese she was sent back to Japan in disgrace and was forgotten about in China . Very sad.
