Great questions. Why would you go out into a lake in a canoe without a life jacket (even off of your own property) if you were not an EXTREMELY strong swimmer? And why would you not have a life jacket lying next to the dock to throw on your 8 yr old? Did they not know how to swim? Why would you ever go onto a body of water if you don't know how to swim (maybe they do, I'm just asking the question) without a life jacket? That would be an incredibly dumb thing to do. Like going on an expressway with no seatbelt on. I don't think it's suspicious to go after a ball, but you grab the canoe and grab the life vests and go out. And why does the husband know all of this info about them going out? Why wasn't he watching them or going for them if it seemed very windy or dangerous, like the canoe may capsize? If it seemed windy or at all dangerous wouldn't he be watching them at least, and call 911 or a neighbor if he saw them capsize? Did they say "hey, we're going out in these high winds with no life jackets to try to get this ball..." and then he checks on them an hour later and doesn't see them? Surely, the people who make their living asking these questions will be asking these questions. I'll be interested to know what answers they come up with.

@@X3000Chan The life jackets! What an excellent point my friend! Why would a woman chance going out without a life jacket in a canoe, which are known to easily flip over? ESPECIALLY, with an 8yr old child in the boat without a life jacket on also? Sounds pretty irresponsible. I wear my seatbelt. And as a parent I ensure my children also wear seatbelts so i would never have allowed my child at age 8 to be in a canoe without a life jacket. I'll be curious also to see what comes of this story. I certainly hope that its all a freak accident though.

Why was the son in the boat at all? If anyone had to retrieve it, let it be one parent, the other watches the kids. Why take an 8yo out w/o life vests? Horrible, unnecessary end of two lives.

The Kennedy's are still dying, somebody needs to investigate why something is always happening to this family.

Of the husband saw their canoe has being taken away by waves why he didn’t call for help? The story just doesn’t add up. RIP.

And why would a mother of three, the woman who obviously is not in a financial crisis like most of us now, would jump in a canoe on a windy day to chase a ball? Was it the last ball they could afford to buy for their kids? The story is just bizarre to say at least.

There is no curse on the family. It is a very large family and these incidents have been spread out over nearly 80 years.

This family can not take a break. Can you imagine dying but the death doesn’t stop with you, your entire family line dies one by one mysteriously or over stupid reasons. I wouldn’t be surprised if the great grand kids die of stupid reasons like this.

I know the area and the water around there very well. Most times you would not have a problem but I'm sure the wind was blowing out of the West and it got the best of them blowing them offshore. Once you get out into the bay itself you're dealing with much larger waves. It doesn't take much to get into a panic mode and over turn a canoe. My heart goes out to the entire family they have dealt with so much tragedy over the years.
