The more videos I see like this, the more I am understanding what black people (especially black men) have to go through. I’ll admit that I used to be ignorant and think that it was overblown and that this type of stuff doesn’t happen on the regular… but I’m beginning to realize that this stuff is WAY more common than we all think. Keep putting these videos out, and more people will learn (like I have). I’m truly sorry if you’re a black American and have had to deal with harassment like this.

It’s start pretty young , and you don’t even realise it’s not normal. Police jumping out on us in the way to football practice was the first encounter for me, Guns drawn , screamed at and thrown on the ground , searched , humiliated to sit on a kerb in cuffs , while they run illegal name checks. All to while taking your phone so u can’t call anybody. Then they release you like nothing happened. That was the first of many humiliating encounters like that. I’ve never been to prison or court for any crimes . Just a ticket or 2 in my teens. When I first started driving I would tense up at the sight of police . Not realising it was a mild form of ptsd . Now I exercise my rights without emotions and with pride . I’d rather die on my feet.

The Sheriff was charged, but this guy's Disorderly Conduct is a misdemeanor in and of itself. Do I believe he made threats against the Sheriff? We don't have for-sure proof of either side, but given his bad attitude and aggressive nature, I wouldn't rule it out. His aggressive body language is indicative of someone who would say something like, "Come on then, you come over here and see what happens" or any variation thereof. I know this kind of personality and have seen it on and off for decades. He probably did say something. Take a look at what the cop says right before he leaves...he tells him to "don't say anything" when he was passing by the Sheriff. Why? The officer could tell that his big mouth and big ego would escalate the conflict even more and serve to get himself into trouble with multiple officers present and not just the Sheriff's say-so. Because again, looking at the guy's aggressive ranting and body language, he's the type who would ride by the Sheriff and scream something ignorant like, "Aaaaahaaaa! Got you, boy! They didn't do nothin' to me! You lied!" and start a whole thing all over again. Do I believe that he would do that? Absolutely. Apparently the unbiased officer who didn't witness what happened between the paper guy and Sheriff also read that same vibe from the paper guy that he'd try to start something with the Sheriff due to having a big ego and loud mouth. He jumped out of the car aggressively while talking to the officers, in fact. That's not even normal behavior of a person just doing their job.

They just get a call over the radio, saying you need to go check this out. They literally have no idea of the situation they’re walking into and they deal with dangerous people all the time so they just have to be extra cautious. Let’s be honest. How far do you think; pressing charges with get Cedric? The sheriff’s fellow officers, are going to insulate him; from any liability. It’s the “Blue Wall”. Also, victims of Systemic Racism, under “Color of Law” lack follow through. First a victim has to file charges, at the Federal Level. Doing it at the city, or state level; doesn’t achieve ANYTHING substantive. Second; while the Sheriff is being investigated; they have to Suspend his Police Power. That way; he cannot effect any arrests, or call in any favors. Next Cedric has to utilize a Trial Attorney; in order to approach the Law Enforcement office, for a substantial settlement. Cedric has to make sure; that his attorney, is a Trial attorney, and not simply a settlement attorney. Just in case, the Sheriff’s department, wants to drag out the process. The only thing; that people in positions of power, respect; is equal power, and economic accountability....

They automatically have multiple cops on every scene these days because of how crime, drugs, and terrorism has amped up. I feel sorry for this black man. He’s trying to do his job, but the cops are trying to do theirs. They should have let him go once they realized who he was and what he was doing. The sheriff may have had good intentions, but once he found out this fellow was a paper man, the proper thing to do would have been to apologize to the driver and get on. Instead, I’m guessing the Black guy felt profiled and got angry and the sheriff didn’t like the attitude so the sheriff made a stink. That’s wrong. Let the man go. The sheriff could have made an honest mistake, but he should have been a man and treated the other man right.

@@reese7696 the cops attending did not profile the man, they were called because of what the sheriff said. The sheriff’s dumb behavior is not the fault of the others. My comment was addressing the behavior of the ones answering the call. They handled the scene properly. It wasn’t fair to the Black man, but in truth they followed protocol. In today’s society, the appearance of innocence does not constitute innocence. I understand what being inconvenienced means, but I would rather be safe than sorry. Furthermore, not all cops racially profile. It’s sad that we still have bad characters, but those are in all races and all situations.
