Congratulations to the winners! Customer bought a machine at auction, he called and said the tilt would just drop randomly, after looking at the valve I noticed the lift and tilt spools were swapped. The lift spool has the ports for the float option and because it was in the tilt part of the valve the tilt was actually going into float or "dropping".

I've already replaced the seals in the upper spool valve without removing all the stuff in the way and the arms down. Not easy. I also removed the cover in the back and the spring shot out. Now bucket will curl up, but not down. Wish I had have seen this video before I started. Thanks, Keep them coming.

I just replaced the seals, plug and O-Ring on my lift spool and the seals on my tilt spool successfully thanks to you and your videos. I really appreciate what you are doing sir and I will definitely hit you up if I need any extra assistance with my 853. My channel lock pliers were a little to thick to use your trick with to get the detent balls in. We had to find one of the darn balls about 3-4 times in a messy garage but we finally got it done. We ended up making a tool by bending the tips of some cheap needle nose pliers a little and then using a hot glue gun to hold a couple of small nuts parallel at the width of the cylinder. Worked perfectly and I thought that I would pass the idea along. Thanks again!

Thanks, great educational video. The spring ball installation sucked. I ended up using a zip tie to bring the balls into the shaft on the spring. Yup about 4 times to get the balls and spring to cooperate. Thanks again...

Thanks for this video. When I tried your method, I did successfully get the balls on the spring in the holes but my channel locks were too wide to let me put the cap on. What worked for me was to use a hose clamp. I had a narrow one and I could use that to crank the balls into the hole and then I pushed the hose clamp with the cap until I could undo the clasp completely and withdraw it.

Slicker than snot!!!! here is the bad news, on my 753G 01 no way to get the spools out with out loosening the entire valve body and tipping it forward to about 30 degrees so there was enough clearance to get the extra long spool valves on my unit. the longest spool was 14" long OD..... I had to remove the fuel hose fill top and fold the fuel fill hose down underneath the hydraulic valve body..... thank you so much for these vid's.....

Good day kind sir. I just wanted to say thank you so so so so much for taking your time to upload this video/edit/record.ive watched this probably 20 times within the last 24 hours because I had a leaking valve spool on a 763g I just bought last week. I've never worked on a valve body that big before so I was very intimated by the job. This video helped me so much also the actuator 1 you posted helped alot as well. Unfortunately the only problem I came across was all the videos online for spool valve seal replacement are for mechanical valve body's. My 763 is a g series so it doesn't have rods and the detent ball and spring. I ended up having to remove all but 2 lines om the valve body, the 2 bolts holding it to the frame, and then had to turn it just enough because no matter what I did I could not get enough clearance to un screw the actuators 3/16's screws. I do wish you had a video on that before I did it because it was gruesome. Or is there a way to do the valve seals on electric over hydro valve body without disconnecting everything ? I even went to harbor freight and bought every style 3/16s hex bit/wrench/socket to try an get actuators out and I couldn't. I spent more time trying to find a way to get them out then I did disconnecting entire valve body. Sorry for the long text but perhaps it may help someone in the future with a g series.

It was some years ago and the pliers/tool was out of stock. It's great that you are sharing your knowledge with people who do their own repairs. I think you mentioned using a vacuum cleaner to hold back hyd. oil. I used that trick for years and was able to save the company the price of a number of Terrazzo floors. Do you use an adjustable bleeder valve in your adapter?

I'm not sure bypassing the controller would be a good idea because the solenoid is controlled by PWM with 10VDC max. You could try to run 12V to female coupler solenoid (Right side of control valve) but it might burn it up after a few hours.

Here's an update, just removed the front section of my Hydraulic Valve where the rubber boots are located, Truly had a hard time removing the (4) 3/16 allen bolts. Tomorrow I will tackle the rear section of the valve bodies. I did not use a battery operated ratchet drill. I did it with standard allens set. Plan on purchasing a ratchet, it was a killer. I do not believe no one ever did any type of maintenance on the used Bobcat 753. One question, I received a bill of sale and was told that the unit was own by another person but seldom used it. (True or not) I am trying to find a way to receive more information on the unit. I am unable to get any VIN information. ANY SUGGESTIONS? Where can I find the vin anyway?

Great video. Tilt spool not coming out . Spool moves 3/8”. It’s a 773. Maybe a broken seal preventing it to slide ? Maybe lightly tap out with hammer ?

The seals would not cause that issue, you can schedule an appointment at our website www.4tetradgroup.com and we can try and figure out the problem.

I'll check in the morning and see if I have a spool I am demonstrate with. I use a small ball end Allen wrench, heat end with lighter and push into plastic, let cool and pull out.

Can you externally test a Control Valve for a Bobcat. We already made up a guage with a T fitting to check each line. I'm wondering if we bought a small pump with a reservoir could we test it outside of the Bobcat? I assume all the return lines would just combine to the reservoir, use the guage on the port we are testing and plug the rest. What do you think?

I have never tried to test outside machine. It really need to be in machine and all lines hooked up to properly test everything. What symptoms do have or what are you trying to test?

Can I reseal lift and tilt spool seals on 753 with out removing the whole valve body?

On my 2001 753G I had to remove the top bolt and rotate the entire valve body 30 degrees forward. to do this I had to remove a boat load of fittings and electrical plugs. the longer spool was 14" long and just would not clear the pump. I did both spools. not difficult but felt like heart surgery... keep track of exactly where each part and nut/ bolt go..... and label the plugs... I followed his suggestions and it made it much easier to work on....

I have a 2001 763G and my symptom is hydro pissing out the small hole of the spool. Should I replace the tilt and lift seals in both? Also with this symptom, do you think replacing seals will solve it?

  • @tetradgroup

Yes replace both lift and tilt seals and don't forget the small o-ring in the loft spool, I have another video that covers that. I confident that will solve your problem.

do you know if the spools can be removed the same way on a 753 im getting ready to fix my leak. it looks like the safety valve in front of the control valve assembly on the 753 might be bigger and in the way. thank you for all the helpful information.

  • @tetradgroup

Yes the 753 can be done the same way, it's a little tighter because of the shorter wheelbase and your right I believe you will have to remove the manual lowering valve.

Hoping you get this post. We resealed a control vavle on a 763 and when we were done the lift arms will raise but they bleed off (rather quickly) and the arms come down. I've studied and realize that it's likely due to check valves on the main valve body (not the BICS). There are three of them AUX, TILT and LIFT. I'm going to pull the BICS off and replace the Orings and pull out the springs and seats and clean them. Do you think I'm heading the right direction. thanks

  • @tetradgroup

Will they bleed off with the machine turned off or only when running and arm bar down with bics released? Also double check the manual lowering valve and make sure it's not bypassing.

Did you ever figure out the problem with the lift arms bleeding off quickly? After replacing a busted tilt hose the arms won't stay up, they drop rather fast
