Bobby Rahal many thoughts after watching son Graham bumped from Indy 500 by RLL teammate Harvey

There are the emotions of being a father and those of being a team owner. Bobby Rahal, 1986 winner of the Indy 500, had them collide in ruthless fashion Sunday, watching one of drivers Jack Harvey bump his son Graham Rahal from the 33-car field of the 2023 500. He conveyed those thoughts in his regular classy manner down on pit road just moments after last chance qualifying concluded. Rahal Letterman Lanigan driver Christian Lundgaard wound up 31st, rookie Sting Ray Robb of Dale Coyne Racing 32nd and Harvey of RLL 33rd. After 15 straight starts, Graham Rahal won't be in this year's race, and it's something Bobby experienced 30 years ago in 1993 when he too was bumped from the field, a year after winning the IndyCar season title.

On the brighter side the sponsors have gotten a ton of air time and that is why they pay the money. Much respect to Bobby and Graham. I’ve had the pleasure of speaking to both of them.

They'll probably be on all three team cars for the race.

I feel bad for Bobby because it’s his team. His cars are slow - I hope collectively they get situated they all deserve it

I hope Graham is on the phone Monday with Chip Ganassi discussing a ride for 2024. Graham deserves better than the crap cars RLL Racing has given the last few years.

Rahal Lettermna Lannigan was extremely slow the entire time. 4 of the slowest 5 cars in qualifying.

Congratulations Jack! Your in the Show! I don't want to hear Graham whine. Legge put her car in the show. Where are the great American drivers. I know Indy is a International race track. It's been that way since 1911. If I hear Graham whine one more time. Results Graham not excuses! I want Ed Carpenter to win too. Marco Andretti I want him to win. Hell he's in the race. But he doesn't have a chance. The top 15 driver's will all have a chance. To win The Greatest Spectacle in Racing! The Indy 500! Get your act together guy's. Or quit! It's that simple! Shawn.

Where are the American drivers? There's like 13 of of them. Over one third.

(What are you talking about here is just a few) Josef Newgarden is a two time champion, and won 5 races just last year. Alexander Rossi has multiple wins including the Indy 500 Colton Herta has as many wins as Rossi, and he's in it too. Isn't Ryan Hunter-Reay in the running this year? He's a one time champion, and Indy 500 winner. Graham Rahal is back in the Indy 500, and he has 6 wins total, but no Indy 500's.
