Seriously I saw Kev's video an hour ago and I am still still sitting here going "holy crap, I know nothing about anything now". I also alway though it was a George Benson song for some reason.

He signed with TK Records in Miami. In 1978, after songs for his first album were recorded, executives told him they enjoyed the album but thought it was lacking a hit. Caldwell returned to the studio for two days and wrote "What You Won't Do for Love". TK was mainly an R&B label popular among African American listeners. Executives at the label wanted to conceal that Caldwell was white, so they kept his face off the album cover. When he toured with Natalie Cole to support the album, most of the audience was black and most were surprised that he turned out to be white.[2][3]

Singer and songwriter Bobby Caldwell, the man behind the 1978 platinum hit "What You Won't Do For Love," has died on March 15, 2023 at age 71, his wife Mary confirmed to CBS News on Wednesday. He was a world class songwriter who also happened to possess the kind of mellifluous voice that made him soul music royalty. Today we say a sad goodbye to legendary singer and songwriter Bobby Caldwell, a four decade star best known for his now-iconic hit "What You Won't Do For Love."

This is a great song. I am from Miami and went to see Bobby Caldwell live in Miami Beach when this album first came out. He had the greatest band-Joe Galdo on drums, Witt Sidner on Saxophone, Alfons Kettener on guitar and many more amazing musicians. I was blown away by the great musicianship and Bobby Caldwell played great lead guitar as well as singing like you hear and even better live. I am so glad that such a talented artist has been recognized and made a great living writing great songs. Today, he's reinvented himself and is just as great today as he was back in the day.

We're not hating. Still love him. The man sound black. Until Kev on stage just told me I ain't know he was white. I'm 39 and I know that man was white. Mind blown. Like when I found out the man who sings Drift Away is black. Smh

tokunaga432 music have no color lines? True but every civilization of folk have music to identify their culture and folk. If I want to hear Caribbean music, I'm not gonna want to hear it from somebody that's from Scotland.
