One of my favorite lesson videos. Such a great song to learn to sing with and Marty sings it like anyone can relate to. Really nice. ❤️

Marty, I’m brand new, learning from you I’m able to play “Wish you were here”. I recorded it and sent it too my family while we are home bound and they were shocked! My youngest son said I didn’t know you knew how to play guitar, how long ago did you learn how to play? Thank you Marty, you’ve change my life, love you man.

Ive been playing on and off for 14 years but never would stick with it. I'll play for a few months then sit it down for 6 months. Theres been times where i wouldnt touch it for a year or so but Wish you were here has stuck with me through it all though. That was the most difficult thing I ever learned until lately. I've made a lot of progress over the last couple months.

Marty I love your teaching style. I just started learning guitar and found your lessons fantastic. I especially like how you broke the cords down with the lyrics. It really helped me with my timing and beats making the song sound more authentic when I was practicing. Thank you so much!

Marty, I'm really diggin' your mix of acoustic and electric stuff. A well-rounded player plays both (o.e. Page, Clapton, Gilmour, etc.). I also think it can be pretty creative to convert an great electric guitar tune to a full sounding tune on acoustic. Thanks for the lessons. Even the small things I've learned from you have made a big impact on my playing and I've been playing in bands for over 20 years. You have no idea how much you are making a difference to so many people, both players and listeners. Thank you, Sir.

Hey Marty! :D I've been watching you for around 7-8 months now and have gone from knowing nothing to knowing 4 songs and working in the process of learning another 3. And it's all thanks to you! I would really appreciate it a lot if you would make a video on how to play "My Hero" by the Foo Fighters. You the man Marty! Thank you and stay awesome!

I dreamed with this song last night, the Metallica version (I love metallica since a teenage love, Tiago, who died years ago - my first, platonic and eternal love). In my dream I was looking for the videoclip, because I wanted to show to my sister and friends (I love that video). This song always find me in the most difficult times, and it makes me stronger, even in sadness. It will be the first song I’ll learn to play. Thank you so much, Marty, for teach us. Music (specially Turn the page) always saves my life. Thank you and a happy and healthy new year!

The simplistic picking pattern in this song is important because it goes with the lyrics. The song is about the band going from town to town on the road on a tour bus and its droning engine. The picking always sounded to me like the pulse of the highway pavement seams pulsing under the rolling wheels. Great song among many of Segers best.

+martyzsongs Hi Marty, I flatter myself that I am a bit above beginner (in terms of experience if not talent, lol) and I thought you singing the chords out was a really good way of transferring the progression. Never played this before and had it nailed in 15 mins. and I am not a quick learner by any stretch of the imagination. (My wife is happy to provide evidence to that statement !). Thanks for a great lesson. Gareth
