This song reminds me of the summer of 1984, when I was in high school and sitting in the back of my Cinema class because I joined late. I sat next to a bookcase, and I read so many classics that year. My favorite became Other Voices, Other Rooms by Truman Capote. It's set in the south, in the summer. There's so many beautiful scenes in that book, and when this song quiets down and speaks of the night and thunder, I'm reminded of that book, the summer of 1984, and how everything about that year was a whole world unto itself. That song takes me a million miles away, every time.

I was 12 or 13 when I first heard this song... that was 42 years ago... we used to go to the drive ins in a van with massive speakers & hook them up to the system so the movie sounded awesome & we would play mix tapes before & after or between dbl features... brought coolers sleeping bags... it was the only way to watch a movie especially if you brought your GF- and this brings back to my mind memories i hadn't thought of in a good long while... the years 12- 17... those were great times I thought that's what the song was always about then... now I understand... the song is about being my age now & remembering the youth you are now living... HAVE FUN dude- tomorrow is never promised to anyone!

I love Bob Seger's voice! There is something so unique in it. This was definitely a favorite. My kids grew up listening to Seger playing loud while we three did the house chores. The lyrics are always there to be heard and played in your mind. It wasn't until my later years that I discovered "Ship of Fools." Hubby and I love that one.

This song used to haunt me. A jinx song. Got stopped one night and it was on the radio. A week later, I heard it 4 times in one day and got stopped and went to jail. Every time I that heard this song, I knew bad news was sure to follow. I finally got right with God and this song quit haunting me. I always thought it was a great song, just bad mojo tied to it. Now I can play it and enjoy it without fear. We miss you Bob. I got to see you a few years before you retired in Tulsa. Definitely a concert that I would go to again.

You’re the man bob Seger! I am 37 years old and I’ve been listening to you since I was about 15 when I was listening to the classic rock station up here in Maine as the conference her during the summer. Of course I got an education in real music and fell in love with all kinds of great artists but by far you were the one that to this day I have placed above the rest. You are extremely talented of course will not of course , I’m sure you had to work really hard at it! But I am a writer and I have always loved writing so your lyrics in your writing is what makes me absolutely fall in love with your music and your artistic expressions. I could go on and on and I’m a disabled combat veteran who is getting to go to school to be a robotic engineer thanks not only to the G.I. Bill but the Viani which helps veterans wounded in combat go to school but anyways not to digress too much, but your writing is amazing so many songsAre just incredible with the beautiful Laird poetry that you wrote. Against the wind like a rock, Night Moves, but I found out that you also wrote many other songs for other artists during that time you were pull a prolific songwriter so Bob you are the man thank you and I hope that you come around New England because I’ve heard that you are still rocking stadiums like no one else could. I will pay anything to go see a real musician and a real song writer play their heart out to the crowd and I’m sureFocused and alert not wasted and subpar like I have experienced at concerts, the BBC gave you the Mausel glowing article about your current tour and I trust their news. Thank you so much Bob for a lifetime of art 🙏 🖼 🎸 🎶 🎙 👇🏿👇🏾👇🏽👇🏼ᗰY ᔕITE👇🏼👇🏽👇🏾👇🏿 🇦🇫\☠️/🇺🇸 :•> 𝙬𝙬𝙬.𝚅𝚎𝚝𝚎𝚛𝚊𝚗𝙿𝚛𝚘𝚍𝚞𝚌𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗𝚜.𝙘𝙤𝙢

The lump in my throat is not because of the song but how much the song meant to my dad. It was the last thing he was listening to before he passed away. I was only ten, so I never had a chance to ask him things as an adult. I never knew my father as a man, only a cool dad with good taste in music. From The Stones to Blondie. Bob Marley to Bob Seger. He passed that ear for sound to me. I carry it for you still, Butch.

Hey Bob, if you ever read these comments, do you remember George Napier, (and his wife Jackie)? George and I were in the Army together and our families remained friends for years after. He was a Michigan boy and said you offered him a spot in one of your bands. He declined as he was going to Michigan to become a lawyer, which he did. He and Jackie are both gone now. Still miss them. Love your music: such great memories.
