I've always been running against the wind. Ever since my parents died and I had to take care of my three brothers. It happened in a small town and we got good support, but so many sad nights. I cry so much. I listen to this song and it recalls my life. We grew up as good christians. Good morals. Honest. In the 70's. Now, I've lost two of those brothers. Didn't really know them, as I was too busy with my life. I feel ashamed for that. Selfish really. I have to deal with that. The lyrics of this song is as if had written the words according to my life. I'm 66 now. Lived through the wind, raised three kids and feel thankful for that as my life's accomplishment. So maybe they won't have to go through life against the wind.

The song touches my soul. I am 79 now, and it brings back memories of my oldest son who died at age 52 of a heart attack. But his life was much like this song. He did his best to care for his family, but the turmoil of carying for his first family, and his second and third family, took its tole on him. He died at age 52. I look forward to seeing him again when I go home to be with our Lord. He was saved.

I am a woman but can relate to this very true and real song. Sometimes in life there are just to many battles we have to fight. Such a Awesome Song Absolutely Love It
This song came out when I was 4 years old. My parents divorced before I was 3. I grew up loving Bob Seger my entire life but this song always gave me a different feeling... one of nostalgia and comfort and love. Sometimes it would even bring me to tears but I never knew why. I am 46 now and about 3 years ago I shared a lyrics graphic of the song on Facebook with a comment of how much I loved the song and that it felt like home . My step-mother commented on my post saying how much my Daddy loved it too, and would play it over and over and sing it to me and I would sing back as best I could at age 4. My Daddy was killed in car wreck 3 days after my 5th birthday. Because of my young age, the emotions of the song had stayed with me when the memories of why had not. Music is one of the best gifts life has and no one will ever convince me otherwise.

How come no one talks about God and Jesus
I was to marry in November 1980. It suddenly ended on 8/8/80 when he fell only 12 feet. I buried myself into friends and music. This Bob Seger's song said it all. The reflections of the past mingled with the realities of the present...it was playing on my stereo the night he died. Today I have deadlines to meet...what to leave in, what to leave out. It's a great life.

Judith, I have been dealing with "What to leave in or what to leave out" all my life. I suppose we all have. The best song ever written. Your testimony touched me.
I am over 70 but this one hits the all time favorites.
😞 "wish I didn't now, what I didn't know then".... What a great line! Just Love this song! 😊 ❤❤❤❤
I lost my best friend today and as I thought about him I could hear this song playing in my head 1980 we met hit it off and had a friendship for the next 42 years this album came out that that yr and I didn’t even realize until now however reminded me of him and our time as teenagers for a couple of summers that could never be relived “we were young and strong and running against the wind “ Darrell Garcia, Rest In Peace my good friend

Was für ein toller Song.
"The years rolled slowly past. I found myself alone. Surrounded by strangers I thought were my friends. I found myself further and further from my home" I tear up every time i hear that and I've been hearing over 30 years. It's just beautiful poetry.

You have to been through some real struggles and suffered some blows! You find yourself feeling "why me" then later you are thankful for the strength to run, past, present and future! Incredible song!!

In life, there certain people who this song fits their life perfectly. I'm one of those people. I'm 56 and I have had a few "Janeys" in my lifetime. Good and bad memories and regrets with all of them. If there were rules to be bent... I definitely broke them. I still have those deadlines and commitments, still leaving things in and leaving things out. I'm still seeking shelter "Against the Wind."
Top 10 greatest song ever in any genre
I was born nearly 43 years ago and heard this song when I was 19 in my country Nigeria and 24 years later I am still listening to it in France where I now live every day. A master piece always. Thank you Mr Bob ❤
I just turned 48 TODAY. This song means MORE to ME than EVER before! 🍺😎👍
Masterpiece and a classic song 👍🤠
Right here april 30th 2024...a child of the 60's70's80' God almight th i miss those days...
This song describes the lives of most of us these days.
Bob Seger is one of the best songwriters. Seger does not showcase technical guitar wizardry; just pure songwriting. Genius.
In my youth, it was a nice song in the background, as I was driving along. That's the difference between hearing it in my youth, and listening to it as an older man. Those drifter's days are certainly past me now. Kind regards.
One of the best songs from the XXth century. Period
A lifetime of regrets. This song brings tears to my eyes every time. Wish I could go back and do it all over the right way.

It's so meaningful because we have lived and experienced it, and still do!
I heard him say in an interview once that he always tried to write songs that would last, about the things that are timeless. That was in 1980-something. Listening to this song, he was a man of his word.

The 70's and 80's were the best, there will never be another generation like that or the greatest music of all time's. I'm getting old now but I wouldn't trade those day's for the world.
This song is what 42 43 yrs old and still has just as much meaning to me now as when it came out.
It took me years, literally, to find Bob Seger's CD. I found one at a truck stop going North of Rapid City. I still have it.
Lost my love 2 months ago. And I find myself seeking shelter against the wind. This song takes me back to earlier days full of love and promises. Great song about real life.
6 am on a sunday. 2024. Been a hard ten years passed. And this song has to come up. The eyes well up with tears. I ask my wife, all the time now, "whats the numbers"? 1,2,3... you, me and the dog. The wind has died down a little, dont have to run so hard these days. Storm clouds come and go.....but i have a bit of the right equipment/experience now to face them. Stay strong people. For you Jake, and pops. RIP. Ill see ya " down on main street"
My dad passed away this summer 2020... He would play this song, along with many classics on our road trips. This is one of the songs I remember him by. "We were young and strong, we were runnin' against the wind...watch the young man runnin" Thank you Sir Bob Segar. #RIPPoPs
