Cro Cop was an amateur boxer and in K-1 he knocked out real legends of the sport, with his striking, not kicking. He smashed bones of Le Banner, Aerts, Bernardo, Hunt, Bonyanski in 2003. The ferocity and accuracy of his strikes were awesome, I am sorry that they didn’t test those. When he went in the PRIDE and on the MMA gloves, people were having near death experience in matches with him. Fedor was the only one who could beat him. Not just defeat, but beat, although Mirko didn’t embarrass himself in that epic match. And then he went to the UFC...3-4 surgeries. Old story.

Yugo Boss I really don’t know what they took in the PRIDE. Whatever it was, it should be administered immediately to all fighters in the UFC (although Jones is already hooked up, so they needed to change the venue to let the fighter who should not even to be considered for an event to fight at one). Have you seen the match between out-of-shape DC and Stipe? 9 out of 10 matches would go in Stipe’s favor, but he was getting out of clinches with his guard down. Now, DC may be out of shape, may be lighter and may even be worse all-round fighter. But DC is technically sound one-punch KO artist, saw a massive flaw and you know the rest. Mirko, prime or not, does such a small number of mistakes in the ring (especially when you consider that he is a striker), only Fedor was more cunning. And absolutely nobody in the UFC heavyweight division could match these two in their prime. Not just my opinion.

Cro Cop had technique to use his legs and he had huge legs, bigger, stronger and more flexible than Bob's. When I was 19 and practicing Martial Arts, I was 6' 185-190lbs. of pure muscle, and I coul push around a body builder who was 6'3" and 275lbs. I survived his initial onslaught, got back up to my feet an he was gassed already.

At this time Sapp wanted to fight and was a real danger in the ring. Mirko himself said this was one of his biggest victories.

The most painful punches are the ones that do internal damage. Cro Cop broke that bone right above his eye. It did not look that devastating, but internal damage is dangerous. I say Sapp had good common sense. Further damage would have been done to his bone if he continued. He might lose an eye for it...

kal Desjarlais Cro Cop had a very very long career. UFC didn't have better, just younger. Cro Cop in his prime would beat most UFC fighters easily. He was also K-1 mostly, that's different fighting. UFC fanboys bug me. The UFC doesn't have the best fighters. They only convince Americans they do. Truth is, the smaller leagues in Japan have the best fighters.

He had operation after operation at the time he competed in the UFC (a dozen altogether), but didn't want to postpone his fights... His legs were pretty much a shadow of his prime during his UFC days. Wasn't even about his age, but about his health. Even though he was always graceful in defeat.

I don't know why certain people feel the need to discredit Sapp, he doesn't have the best record but he won many fights and lets not forget he beat Ernesto Hoost twice. Hoost is a legend and many regard him as best K-1 fighter of all time. Sapp was a beast and wasn't a bad fighter but because of his sheer mass was limited to his fighting style. Just like a real beast on the attack you had it coming no denying that but if you find his sweet spot you'll make him go down easy. Overall for me he was an awesome entertainer and he did a lot for K-1 regarding promotion, but K-1 didn't reward him and he didn't want to fight for K-1 from then on.

Sapp was a fighter. He didn't have the skills and his body restricted him to a certain style which is not the best style - but he showed up there and was a credible threat. Again, his style was just "easy" to crack by fighters who can adapt to it but it was also a super interesting style and YES it was fun to see an ANIMAL fight a human :D

Mirko was a monster. Every kick or punch he threw was VERY deliberate. Not surprised he broke Sapp’s orbital with that straight-left.

Left kick to the body, right jab, STRAIGHT left to the orbital. 👊

Bob Sapp was in poverty when he was younger. He didn't fight to win. After all he wasn't a fighter. He was a comedian . People liked him. He liked not being in poverty.

watching crocop during Pride is something i do every few months. but my guilty pleasure is this match lmao. Bob is the embodiment of the saying "blowing his own trumpet". if i saw that clip of him entering the arena with that furry coat and that 2001 oddisey music, without context, I'd think it's a comedy sketch.

At that time everyone was scared of Bob Sapp. He had koed Ernesto Hoost. He was 6 6 and 375 with abs. He was juiced up to the max. CC broke his orbital bone and he went down. That is it. He almost killed Big nog in a mma fight. He was an absolute powerhouse of a human.

Bob Sapp running triggers primordial instincts in me that make me feel like I am about to be mauled and mutilated by bear. But crocop here instills a deeper, more profound type of fear. What is he? A decedent of Beowulf? or some other medieval champion whose name gets carried down through the centuries as a monster slayer and warrior of deity-like renown? We just witnessed him slay a powerful monster, breaking one if it's facial bones, with what appears to be a jab.

Loool. True story xD. But it wasnt a jab. This beast was taken over by some demon and Mirko had him under his spell. He distracted him with a kick, then his front hand(also calculate distance) and after came the back hand.

That was more of a straight and Cro cop was southpaw so that was a straight with his power hand, but your point still stands. With sapp there was still a chance to use his wildness against him but with cro cop that could never happen. If you poked sapp in the eye he’d probably run away at the first whence of pain, if you did that to cro cop he’d buckle down and murder you with one shot

WOW!! I have seen Sapp fight some legit fighters and give them a hard time and even beat a few of them (Hoost) But then Cro Cop destroys this guy with one punch! Legend Status!!

lol in 1:10 sapp breaks his back trying to get in the ring xD, u can see in the next 10 seconds how he tells his assistance guys xD and if u pause it in 1:14 look the pain in his face and his body position like fucked up xD

Cro cop is a fucking savage though, one of my all time favorite fighters hands down!!!

Bas Rutten had gone to Japan to help prepare Sapp for Cro Cop. Rutten said that Sapp spent most of his time doing interviews and appearances for his Japanese fans and did not train hard enough to face a guy who was a stone cold killer. Bad kept telling Sapp that he had to say no to his fans because Cro Cop is going to kill him otherwise. Sapp did not heed the warning and was not ready.

That was quite a smack in the nuts that Mirko took at 3:00

Jeff McKyoenn I definitely wouldn't. But then, he's not won an MMA bout since 2009, or a kickboxing match since 2005. I'd say if you were a pro fighter, he'd be worth a bout...

Very interesting that Bob Sapp seems to have been dropped by a left that broke his orbital socket. What makes this fascinating is that while Cro cop is not the best fighter in history...he may be one of the toughest. He's special forces in Croatia and as brutal as they come yet I once saw Cro himself quit a fight midway due to having his socket shattered. It goes to show that this might be the most painful strike a fighter can inflict....Cro cop was standing and able to walk fine, but he quit on the spot mid fight. And you can see the pain on Bob's face. The only other strike that has the same effect are liver shots and possibly groin strikes which many say do not always cause pain under extreme circumstances the male is evolved to not feel pain there in a life or death struggle..

It happens, sapp and hoost had bad blood and the second loss was a ref stoppage that might've been bs, since hoost was fine and continued in the tournament and sapp went to the hospital and withdrew. Hoost, let his ego get in the way and wanted to stand toe to toe with him to prove a point which didn't work in his favor. Cro cop did what he should've done which is fight smart and pick your shots, after his initial flail charge he's usually tired out .

Bob a very courageous man trying to make a living with limited skills and stamina. Show some respect for the human.

He practically throws fights. Low stamina isnt something that is just there you can work on it and improve it but he never trained hard enough to have better stamina. Also, he got kicked out of the NFL for using steroids which is why he started fighting.

That looked like it really hurt. Sapp is a freak. Cro Cop is disciplined and fearless.

Sapp beat Hoost twice and gave Le Banner a tough fight which makes this total destruction of Sapp incredible!

djwlopez Hoost decided to engage him face to face. Sapp beat him fairly on the first fight. Rhe secomd fight could go either way. But Crocop fought this with tactic and struck him accurately on lower rib and eye socket. (Assuming all of those fights are legit though).
