    Being a Vancouver Giants fan, I'd love to see Byram go high in the draft but selfishly want him back with the Giants next year. With Byram, the Giants are an elite hockey team that was one overtime goal away from going to the Memorial Cup tournament. He was so amazing so many times scoring goals and making big defensive plays that it will be a sad thing to not see him playing and dominating in the WHL next season.

    Love Bob..he is awesome. I think Podkholizn is only slipping because of he will stay in the K until 2021. If he slips past 10 Shero mybe step in and solve that problem. Love to see him drop and becomea Devil is Shero can trade back in ...

    Saying "all he has done since is score goals" about Kakko when he spent the first half of the Liiga season focusing on playmaking over scoring is just one of those things that tells me the scouting of Finnish players is still way behind from what it should be. Yes, Kakko is a great goal scorer, but he took on that role because his linemates on TPS weren't burying his elite level passes enough. He should be considered a complete offensive player. The only knocks on him are his top speed/first step and the fact his deployment with TPS put him on the wing since they already had veteran centers.

  • @OneTeeGlory

    @OneTeeGlory

Just imagine if Hughes turns out to be awesome and they draft Kakko instead........the media will kill them and never let them forget that mistake.....If Hughes and Kakko was neck to neck in rankings then I strongly feel the Devils would draft Kakko because hes a sure superstar but Hughes could be bigger but its a bit of a gamble, specially when you consider his size.

    How is Peyton Krebs a heart and soul player if he can't even crack 20 goals in the OHL? He might be a heart and soul 3rd liner in the NHL at that rate, but that should never warrant a top 10 pick. Teams drafting 6-15 should think long and hard before making that pick. He's even coming off a bad injury. Crazy he's still in the top 10. Ryan O'Reilly is physically way bigger than Krebs and his transition to the NHL was 1 in 1,000 and took a long time before he developed into a top 6 forward. You can't expect Krebs to automatically repeat that success.

    @@xdovaaah9422 That just means more ice time, top PP time, and opportunity for Krebs, as well as falling behind more early in games which allows you to play more offensively and wrack up points. There are pros and cons to things like that. The fact remains, Krebs struggled to produce offense. He's a good skater, a smart player, and a hard worker, three things that make for a good 3rd liner in the NHL, but he lacks size, seems to lack high end skill, and judging by his 19 goals, lacks a good shot, all things that will most likely keep him from being a top 6 forward in the NHL. If you want to draft a 3rd liner top 10, be my guest. I just hope my team doesn't. Ryan O'Reilly is 6'1, Krebs is 5'11. There are barely any top 6 centers in the entire NHL who are 5'11 or shorter, and the ones who are seem to be a whole lot more skilled than Krebs. But what do I know, I'm just using logic and making logical comparisons to players in the NHL. I'm not like one of these smart experts comparing a less skilled 5'11 player to a more skilled 6'1 player and acting like it's a reasonable comparison.

    Sure almost every scout still thinks Jack is better but can he play against MEN? It is funny how putting up 6 goals in 10 games with 5 of those coming in the first 2 games and 2 of those being EN makes everyone think Kakko will be SO much better. Recency bias is strong among idiot fans

Kakko has played against men since he was 17 years old, when he plays against men and against the best players in the god damn world like in the worlds he outplayed those guys over and over and over again, he was the one everyone looked at and talked about not Hughes! U18 gold, U20 gold and a world Championship gold, he should be the clear number one as the better player, simple as that! Everyone are on the same page that Kakko is the better player so why are we even debating who is number 1? Because maybe in 5 years Hughes Will be better? That excuse is fucking crazy! KAKKO should be the clear number one. Just imagine if Kakko was American with those stats, just imagine that and let that sink in for a while.

    Except the statement that Kakko massively outperformed Hughes at the World Championship is false. All of the 5v5 underlying numbers and analytical stats were essentially even or in Hughes’ favor. The only difference was that Kakko had the puck go in while Hughes was extremely snakebitten. Both actually played well at the WC. You can tell who actually knows nothing about hockey because they just point watch and assume one player was massively better. Scouts and NHL teams dont do that, hence why Hughes is still #1, as he should be.

    Should they not take the better player? Everyone is on the same page that Kakko is the better player and more NHL ready right now so why even debating who is number 1? Because maaaaaybe Hughes Will be better in 5 years? Is that their excuse to pick him? That is so damn crazy and very stupid, a pure guessing game. This is simple, Kakko is the better player, more NHL ready and therefore he should be number 1 and he also will only get better with time. Just imagine if Kakko was American with a U18 gold, U20 gold and a world Championship gold and totally outplayed many of the best players in the god damn world at the Worlds, just imagine if he was American and if that was the case we would not even talk about Hughes right now.

    CoKo A probably because hockey is an expensive sport that isn’t easily accessible across the country (United States at least). It’s very expensive to build and invest into ice hockey rinks, and it’s also very expensive to pay for the equipment. White people tend to have a higher average income (this is just a fact) and they have been more exposed to hockey generally speaking than minorities. It’s a very complex answer and lots of things go into it. Long story short, if you want more people of color playing in the game, you need to invest in the spreading of the game in less wealthy areas and also make it known that anybody can play hockey, which they can of course. Also just as a side note, I am Latino and have played hockey since I was 4 years old and have seen many races playing the game. Majority white certainly, but it’s not as if only white people at the lower levels. The biggest issue is being able to commit the time and money to further your ability in the game.
