Although I do feel Kingsley Ben-Adir should have already been a huge star after playing Malcolm X in One Night In Miami, I do believe Kingsley playing Bob Marley will definitely make him a star. I can see him getting a Best Actor Oscar Nomination next year for the film

Hopefully this film has a soundscape that goes far deeper into Marley's music (and politics/religion) than that 1984 _'Legends'_ compilation: *_"Despite its generally positive reception, Legend has been criticized for being a deliberately inoffensive selection of Marley's less political music, shorn of any radicalism that might damage sales. In 2014 in the Phoenix New Times, David Accomazzo wrote "Dave Robinson, who constructed the tracklist for Legend, [said that] the tracklist for Legend deliberately was designed to appeal to white audiences. Island Records had viewed Marley as a political revolutionary, and Robinson saw this perspective as damaging to Marley's bottom line. So he constructed a greatest-hits album that showed just one face of the Marley prism, the side he deemed most sellable to the suburbs. [...] If you're looking for mass-market appeal to secular-progressive America, you don't include songs that invoke collective guilt over the slave trade, nor do you address the inconvenient truth that the bucolic Jamaican lifestyle of reggae, sandy beaches, and marijuana embraced by millions of college freshmen, exists only because of the brutal slave trade. [...] the songs on Legend offer just a brief glimpse into his music. The definitive album of the most important reggae singer of all time is a hodgepodge collection of love songs, feel-good sentiment, and mere hints of the fiery activist whose politics drew bullets in the '70s." Vivien Goldman wrote in 2015, "when he does get played on the radio now, it's the mellow songs, not the angry songs, that get heard - the ones that have been compiled on albums such as Legend."_* _At the very least,_ this Marley film should be as _decent_ , scope filled, insightful, and aspiring as the 2008/2009, Soderbergh directed, 'Che' films...and at some point in "One Love", hopefully the Kingsley Ben-Adir version of Robert Nesta Marley obtains & maintains a very rich sun tan!!! ☀️😁

@@az25blue Yea Hollywood's habit of making cash grab biopics left me thinking this would be bad but I was pleasantly surprised as well. I wonder if Bob's family was involved and perhaps that's why it feels a bit more authentic. The director appears to be on the rise as well so maybe this was a, passion project.

I am glad they chose a British actor of caribbean descent to play, bob, i knew it would be hard to find a solid actor to play bob that was of jamaican descent but a Carib Brit was the closest you can get into getting the accent right.

Rasta music is the legacy he has left us. When I looked, I did not see an emphasis on Rasta - our faith, His Imperial Majesty Haile Selassie and the influence these had on the man Robert Marley. I was not pleased with that.”_* Neville O'Riley Livingston *_(Bunny Wailer)_* Still, the 2012 documentary is loaded with all types of gems, footage, interviews, insights, information...It has richness to it, and you'll certainly learn something more about Robert's life/legacy.

Chomping at the bit, like the rest of the world.. most of it anyway, as a Jamaican most of us were worried about the accent, the look was easy with makeup, wigs, etc.. but the authentic "Patwah" & speech patterns.. that's killer. To which I personally think they did a good job.. we Jamaicans hear our native dialect different it seems than everyone else, and he got it. So kudos there. Some Jamaicans still flipping over 1 of his son's playing him , but being an actor too I get why they made that choice, overall very amped..
