I, INESITA am in the movie, too. I am the dancer in the huge scene doing the flamenco dance in the white suit. It was a great musical and strangely not at all appreciated at that time. I am very probably one of the few performers left of the entire cast! It was a marvelous experience and I am amazed how it is drawing so much attention these days. I continue to perform and will be doing two appearances in Los Angeles later in the Fall. Inesita

Inesita Inesita Inesita, its lovely to hear that you had a marvellous experience making this movie. It was definitely a favourite of mine as a child. You have some serious flamenco skills by the way! I wonder how this would do in today's market if it was to be done on a broadway stage...

Thank you so much for your comment, Kevin. Yes, it is part of my past performance experience and makes a wonderful story. I have been very active in subsequent years and to this day have a considerable video presence on the KZread. I wrote a long article or "blog" as it is called today about my short film career which began in 1941 and finished with Here Come the Girls. My dance career which has covered every possible venue since then is chronicled on my Website at www.flamenco-inesita.com That chapter of the "Film work of the "40's and "50's is featured on WordPress. I continue with performing and have the three engagements I mentioned coming up in the Fall of 2017. Gratefully. Inesita.

To Inesita- That was a fabulous performance and the entire outfit was gorgeous,. As were you!!! What a wonderful feather in your cap to have done this movie and this special dance on film with two of the best ever performers, Bob Hope n Rosemary Clooney!!! I can't believe you still are dancing as well!!! That is awesome, as I am an old (65) dancer and would love nothing more than to still be able to perform!!! I miss it so terribly, but with my fibromyalgia and many other back and bone problems n diseases, I haven't been able to dance for at least 10 yrs, and it is the bane of my existence!!! I do, however remember many of my performances step by step n nite by nite, as I sang as well, and I am grateful that I have those memories to help me through old age n pain!!!! Congratulations on a spectacular performance and on the ability to still do so!!! I would love to see a video of your current performances.💕🤩

Accolades to Paramount and it's choice of performers for this one but lest we forget Tony Martin? Seems they hoped to pull seats away from TV with popular recording stars in their heydays. Both he and Rosemary Clooney (and later Guy Mitchel) were at the peak of popularity for this and subsequent films. Thank You Paramount for bringing the memories.

Well actually he did become a "girl" at one point as a washer-woman in drag in the laundry! Btw, the producer exclaims near the end:- "He's alive, who's responsible for this!?":- vaudeville meets Broadway meets movies at the Dawn of the Age of Television! The era from ca 1945 to ca 1965 was a golden age for the performing arts in America with all these performing media competing with each other but alas television won leading to an Age of Shlock and Drek but now the Internet is bringing it all back to inspire young people again and hopefully television will finally die a much deserved death!

In 1953, this Bob Hope film marked the beginning of the end of Bob Hope as a popular film performer. Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis had become a very hot property in Hollywood, along with Marilyn Monroe, plus, television became the dominant form of entertainment in America, thanks to comedian Milton Berle and his Texico Star Theater program. 1953 also marked the final year in which Bob Hope was among the Top 20 popular film stars in Hollywood.

Thankfully, it 'was' issued on Laserdisc back in the 90's which is why copies like this are floating around (including mine - I archived my disc before my player died). Paramount has opted for things like Amazon Prime streaming (and of course, you can see it here too) which is why it's doubtful you'll see a physical disc of this for sale anytime soon.

These guys are credited as The "Four Step Brothers." Some of their dance style resembles tappers who appeared in "This is the Army" in a dance number titled "What the well dressed man in Harlem will wear". Just wondering if these are the same guys who appeared in that Irving Berlin movie? These tappers are great. 📽️🎭📽️

The women's costumes are too revealing for the 1900s

yes, this is a good movie, and Bob, is just about young enough, to get away with this type of role! so much better, then the 60's stuff, that his too old for, and putting him, with actresses well under half his age, a lot of the time! no no no.

52:30 That's the reason for this joke about who is older, Hope or his "understudy". "We older chaps must make room for the younger men." Lol

    This is embarrassingly cheesey.

I like Hope, he's funny but musicals are not my cup of tea.....too much dancing and singing....the plot gets lost.

The dancing and singing is the point. The plot is minimal for a reason.

07dec2023 Here Come the Girls.1953.(B Hope.T Martin.Arlene Dahl.Rosemary Clooney.M Mitchell.W Demarest)[Binyon]{Hartmann.st.wth.Kanter.wrt.Schmidt.ed.Lindon.ph.Lyn Murray.msc}_5.8_1h18_ ./ Bob Hope stars as Stanley Snodgrass, a clumsy chorus boy who gets a chance at Broadway stardom when he's a stand in for a leading actor threatened by an infamous killer.// To those reviewers who said that this is a lesser Hope entry (one saying that it was the start of his decline) I say, nay...Hope put enough into the likable egotistical fool Snodgrass to carry it off just fine. And plenty of 'ham' in his Stanley character, enough to supply all the fixings (with plenty of left-overs) for the Attila the Hun and his Horde's annual May Day, or should I say Mayhem, picnic. And to those who said that there were to many forgettable songs, I say...too many sure, but I'm glad that they were 'new' and not the same-o same-o...new is good sometimes. And since I'm being so contrary, I'll apply a little of that to myself...after decades of watching Hope (too many decades my tired, old body cries), I was sure I had seen all of his films. Wrong! This was my first viewing, and I was thankful that I finally stumbled upon it. Enough smiles, enough laughs and enough of my contrarian views...'hey Attila baby, pass the ham'...///
