This is true

I can't understand people saying they dont like his voice or his singing. This and every BOOT song shows you the best vocals delivery ever done by a singer songwriter. In this one, how the voice FLOWS, all the intentions and phrasing and tones, the way he ends up every line like a plane of paper thrown up or a beautiful spark. Even Frank Sinatra was in love with Dylans voice. The master of vocal delivery.

The more heartache for Bob, the more amazing eork he gives us... It's not the sixties..

Anyone who argues against Dylan being the greatest lyricist ever might want to listen to everything hes done and review their position When somethings not right its wrong.. Very Judge Judy !

The welcoming harmonica invites you into this great tune with wonderful lyrics and the bassline holding your attention until the harmonica strikes again. Great Dylan song and album. My favorite Dylan album. Every song is a gem. Hard to rank them but I'd have to put Simple Twist of Fate as my #1.

I was in high school when I first heard him in 1963. I loved his poetry and have ever since.

Love this song. It was on my setlist for many years when I used to do solo gigs in bars and small venues with my guitar and harmonica. Then in 2005 my girlfriend of almost twenty years passed away and I could no longer sing this song, "Forever Young" or "Lay Lady Lay" publicly for many, many months because I couldn't do them without choking up. All three are great songs that I loved to sing to her. Now I play them all again, over time they've become reminders of great memories. Thanks for the reaction Harri!

I Iove the whimsy in this song, eg the line "flowers on the hillside blooming crazy. I don't think it was meant to be sad. One of the best from Blood on the Tracks.

I don't know, how I must've missed this one, ¿50-ish years ago?... That's the FIRST TIME I'd ever heard anyone make mention of "Ashtabula"(A relatively small city, in EXTREME Northeast Ohio; is the only one, I'VE ever been aware of), in a song!!!

Beautiful and painful, like every song on this album, written and recorded as he was going through divorce, hitting all the emotions until acceptance, and you feel it as if you’re going through it yourself.

This song was from Dylan's fantastic album "Blood on the Tracks." Dylan claimed that the songs of this album were inspired by literature he had read. However, there is little doubt in anyone's mind that the real inspiration for these songs, especially this one and "You're a Big Girl Now" was the disintegration of his marriage to Sara Lownds. She was often the inspiration for many of his songs so it stands to reason that this breakup would inspire a song or two.
