Keith Gatto was a legendary field recorder (aka taper) that lived in Marietta Ohio. He was my best taper buddy. This series of messages that Keith left on my Radio Shack answering machine in April 1991 are centered upon the April 28th 1991 taping of Mountain Stage in Charleston West Virginia that featured R.E.M., Robyn Hitchcock, Billy Bragg, and Clive Gregson & Christine Collister. We had front row of the balcony seats (next to the camera crew from the Today Show). During this era of my life, I was working in Koln Germany for two weeks and then home for one for about a year. I flew home on April 27th, slept six hours and drove to Marietta and gathered Keith. We shared the best concert I ever attended. I videoed the show, Keith made DAT audience tapes. The last message is Keith teaching his son to say bad words.....so bad, so precious.
