Boat Update Part 14: Gas Tank Installation - Bayliner 2450 Ciera (Part 1)

Check out this video where I demonstrate how to effectively replace a leaking gas tank in a Bayliner Ciera 2450 cuddy cabin. Interestingly, the process is quite similar across various boat manufacturers. Contrary to common belief, it's a simpler task than many assume. Instead of going through the hassle of pulling out an engine to install a new tank, it's often more efficient to just remove the old tank and replace it with a new one, which typically costs around $1000. Feel free to watch the video and share it with friends who might find it useful!
The following are items I purchased for this 1988 Bayliner 2450 Siera Project boat. These items will work on any similar year Mercruiser, OMC, Volvo Penta.

Capt Mike: Don't forget you poked a hole in your water tank. When you poured oil everywhere when you forgot to drain the old engine, I almost made a comment but didn't cause by the time I saw it, you had already made a mess. LOL. Friends. don't forget to hit the like button. Fair winds and tight lines my friends!! Gary from OK

Thanks Gary. I already fixed it. The stunt boat had one in it and I used it. Win for the stunt boat. The water system is in and working.

This Bayline Ciera 2450 is pretty easy as you can see. I have heard people say, mechanics told them they had to pull the motor but as you can see, you shouldn't

Great job. We are just about to do a complete transom replacement. We bought all the supplies yesterday. $3400!😮 But will save us probably 10k by doing it ourselves.

Not much mold, you are actually seeing black oil particles from where the gas tank was in the aft cabin. Similar to what you would see in an exhaust pipe. I will show in a later video the cleaning of it.

Mike, what would you say, percentage wise, you are to being complete for it to be sea worthy?

Oh man, that is a hard one. Let's say 70\30 Engine is running, dealing with a water issue, close to half of the interior work is complete. But I need to build the top and have the glass surround intalled. (I am paying to have that done.) Several videos will come out close together as several projects will come together near the same time. So to answer your question, sea worthy is probally less than a month for sea trials. The big question is the loop? I hope to have a answer to that question in less than a month. I am planning a video for that answer. So many things I didn't plan on fixing that came about. But I am going to do it right the first time. This I can say for sure, some section of the loop is being done this year. Can you guess what that might be?

Yes the mic pics up a lot, not mold you are seeing. It is soot particles from the gas tank. I deal with a lot of mold in my cabinet business. This is different .
