Great to see an update on the boat. Spinner baits up here in the northeast.
That's a dandy boat. The Merc is a work of art. They ain't pretty like that now.
My favorite fall fishing techniques have been crankbaits and bitsy bug jigs. Love the videos, can't wait for more ice fishing videos!
Love the videos! I live on a lake in central Minnesota and love to fish off the docks in the fall with crank baits! I don't even mind not catching anything, just being down at the lake is enough for me!
I actually used rino lining on the floor of my boat. It helped deaden the noise if I dropped something and it has great grip when it's wet. But I'd say for me my favorite fall fishing is jigs with paddle tails. Or a jig with any plastics. I normally used 4" plastics but this year 3" seemed to be the ticket for me. Anyways great update man!
Love the channel! I personally like trolling down the Minnesota River with a big hook and several crawlers for autumn catfish. Keep up the great content!
Crank baits for sure. Just got my first boat and following your advice on a lot.
Thanks for sharing what you did with the boat. I always like to throw lipless cranks in the fall, color is not as important as the size bait that I'm throwing.
My favorite fall fishing technique is either crank bait or jerk bait. Love the content!!!
Planing on doing the same thing to my 17 foot aluminum Lund. Thanks for all the info.
Good job on your boat . Spinner bait for me Chris
Textured paint is a good idea and looks cool! If that doesn't last as long as you want, truck bed liner or undercoating would be probably work too, and be more durable. Anyways, spinnerbaits all the way, all the time, but my stuff is already clean. :)
Great job thank you
I actually just heard that treated wood is terrible on aluminum.
Bottom bouncer Spring summer and fall.
Nice job. Ive found that if you put a couple coats of fiberglass resin on your plywood before carpet or paint it econes a lot more resistant to moisture.

Thanks for the tip, I'll have to try that in the future!
The Beast needs some 'Railblaza' accessories.
I use primarily jigs.
I just found your channel today and I really enjoyed your video. I just wondering what horsepower motor do you have on the 12 foot boat?

Thanks, it’s a 1969 mercury 9.8
What should I use for the toe rings? I got it down to just the aluminum today.

Tow rings as in anchor points for trailer attachment?

@@MissionForFishing sorry the toe rails I meant..not sure exactly what they're called but up on the edge of the boat. The boat I got was all rotten and I'm replacing it. Sorry the phone auto texted that

@@jms4406 Oh, most factories use special aluminum extrusions but those are both expensive and nearly impossible to find. I've seen side rails made out of carefully cut pieces of tubular aluminum. One straight cut down one side of the pipe for the edge of the gunnels to slide into which is finished with a welded seam. From what I've heard the curve of the hull can be difficult to match so depending on how extreme that dimension is may effect when you bend your tubing. For the top of the transom, c-channel is likely going to be the best looking and easiest to install depending on your dimensions.

@@MissionForFishing Awesome! Appreciate the time.
I also have a 12’ Aluminum boat with a 9.9 out board I would like to travel with the motor on it but feel it would be too heavy..Am I right or wrong. And how could I reinforce it to travel with it.

You can look at a transom saver, it’s a pretty solid option that I should get for my boat too.

I have a 14' aluminum boat with a 20hp on it. I reinforced the transom. And I always use a transom saver when I'm towing my boat.
I’m little late to the party how much weight do you think the added deck weighs?
@MissionForFishing
5 ай бұрын
The added decks probably total to around 70-100 pounds if I were to guess.
Nice boat build! I've got a similar craft. Do you know the bottom width and beam measurements of this boat?
@MissionForFishing

I’ve measured it before and I think they’re both close to 36”

What kind of paint did you use
@MissionForFishing

Rustoleum Industrial Grade Enamel in gloss black. It comes in a 1 gallon paint can that you can brush on.
my best fall technique is waiting for spring unfortunately
Did the deck add stability?

Its just the bare aluminum with a clear coat to prevent oxidation.

@@dougedoug007 The bottom of this one was painted over also. We used some citristrip gel to remove it, but it was a good amount of work. A lot of eastern MN is a pretty neat, especially the trout angling opportunities.
how much does your trailer and boat weigh?
@MissionForFishing

If I had to guess I’d say the whole package with everything weighs around 500-600 lbs.
What’s your opinion I see you don’t have yours seats anymore why ? Do they bother u
@MissionForFishing
2 жыл бұрын
I spend the majority of my time on the water standing, so the seats just end up taking up space. If it were a bigger boat it wouldn’t bother me as much, but the 12 footer lacks space to begin with so the seats usually only come out when I’m trolling or when I know I’ll be sitting down for most of the day.
