@@flashfive12 The thinking / hope (?) is that its only another very intense storm that moves it and therefore there is no way they would have boats running at that time. But thats some mighty powerful water running where it is and when it goes, its only matter of minute (seconds) before it goes over the falls? I would want to watch it over the falls, but count me out for being in a tourist boat when it happens. They have thought this through though..

I lived there when I was 5 until about 11. We went to the falls every Sunday after church. Then we moved to Batavia until I went into the Air Force. The falls can also be turned off. They do that to build up the face of the rock behind the falls, as it erodes from the water over time. I remember seeing it on the news.

Same for me when my family visited in November 1972 when I was twelve, then took my then-wife there in October 1985. It is fascinating that it stayed there for so long.
