Boat Non Skid Deck Cleaner Comparison #1 (Unexpected Winner!)

In this video I do a comparison between 5 cleaners to see which one will perform the best cleaning the deck of my Key West Bay Boat. Baked on deck scum is the hardest part to clean on your boat, and I am going to keep doing product testing until I find the one that works best for me. This is the first test.

Hey! I have watched your channel for awhile now and I detail boats for a living. For a normal washdown you shouldn't use harsh chemicals every time. If you have a protectant on the fiberglass it will shorten it's life. For cleaning the deck I normally use Spray Nine but I don't spray it everywhere. Just stubborn spots. Scrub it in with some boat soap(don't use dawn or other dish soap!) with a deck brush and it usually does the trick. I seen in another comment you talked about sealing the deck. I personally don't put anything on the deck because sometimes they become slippery. A good pass with compound should keep it looking good and easier to clean. If you are going to wax the boat I suggest a polymer sealant over wax. It lasts longer in saltwater use. I use Jescar Power Lock plus. If you want any tips let me know! I'm always willing to give some.

Kyle S Do you compound the non-skid, then use Jescars?

@@whywedrink Yes compound it then seal it with something. For floors i use either the Jescar or McKee 37 hydro blue coating. Prefer the McKees because it doesn't make it slippery.

Very nice video, as you said the starbrite doesnt seems to leave any protection, but i m pretty sure the bleech will etch the gelcoat the more and more you use it without protecting it with any wax after the use😊

Although Comet may have one, you have to take into consideration that it’s an abrasive, therefore, even though it looks the cleanest, it will be the one who becomes the dirtiest because you have opened up the pores of your deck.

My man please stop using household chemicals on your boat! Bleach and mold/mildew remover is ok once in a while but not regular, it’s harmful to the finish of the gelcoat! Especially that comet, you basically sanding on it the. Not putting anything to protect it back on top! Stick with the deck cleaner or a good APC, Poorboys world has a good one and so does American detail garage. Combine the APC eith a heavy duty magic eraser to get the stubborn stains off, then either use a marine sealant or wax on top to keep the staining from coming back! Or you can go as far as I do and polish the nonskid with a shurhold brush and orbital polisher with Smoove wax and seal it afterward!!!! That boat is too damn nice to be grinding on it with comet!!!!

I have the wax/sealant from starbrite on order now along with the orbital polisher and brush setup you mentioned. The starbrite cleaner is what I always use, I was just curious of what others would do. The comet was non scratching and it did an amazing job, but like I said in the video I kinda figured it wasn't good for the boat. I have never sealed the deck with a wax so I'm curious what these Starbrite wax will do, because those deck stains can be annoying to get off.
