Bo Jackson on The Arsenio Hall Show 1989

Спорт

Back in The mid '80's thru mid '90's, I lived in Kansas City and was a HUGE Bo Jackson fan. I used to tape everything I could that was aired about him on my old VCR. I'm not sure why, but I've saved these tapes for the last 25 years (Damn, has it really been that long!?!). I recently cleaned out a storage shed and found boxes and boxes of old video tapes and over the next several months, I will upload some of the "Bo" footage here.
Thanks for all of the great memories Bo....you truly were a one man highlight reel. For me, both the Kansas City Royals and Major League Baseball have been boring ever since he left the game.
This Show originally aired in 1989 and Bo talks about the media's reaction to his deciding to play both Major League Baseball and professional football.

I like how he still gave the clapping guy a little 'hey' after Arsenio told him to ignore him. Very classy - that little gesture showed a LOT about his character. Good dude.

he was and remains remarkably level-headed about his pro career. can't imagine most athletes these days in big money sports -- especially the ones coming up used 2 having yes men & their ass kissed -- being this grounded & keeping life in its proper perspectives. this man knows the "high life" on top of the sports world & knows what it is to have that taken away. i don't think he cares to this day b/c he had other priorities. right on!

Awesome, and this is coming from a Seahawks fan :) Living in the UK all my life I haven't seen many extended interviews of BJ and he seems very grounded and sincere, especially for a guy who was 26 in this clip. It was a shot at Deion. Deion made the football HOF. Also played baseball for a decade. Deion hit a HR and scored a touchdown in the same week. Deion has a different personality than Bo did. That was all that was. If you're not going to say something nice about somebody, you shouldn't say anything at all. I respect Bo but just thought that personal shot at Deion was unnecessary.
