He was the best pure athlete I have ever seen. I believe he would be in the Baseball and Football Halls of Fame if not for his injuries

Damn right. Thorpe, Ruth, Ali, Carl Lewis, Bo. We haven't had anyone succeed the throne since IMO.

Only people living during that time remember the HUGE hype with Bo. I was a kid and it was amazing to see and witness with the commercials, the stories and the amazing games he had with the Royals and the Raiders. Unbelievable and nothing will ever come near that. We were lucky to see it.

I was a huge Seahawks fan when he went to the Raiders, when he ran through Bosworth, I hated him. Then when he got injured and couldn't compete at that level anymore, was completely bummed to not be able to see him become both the amazing football and baseball player he could have been. A lot of that was due to the fact he was not only an amazing athlete, but a great person too.

I had the privilege to watch him play both football and baseball. Simply awesome! Later met him personally on a pheasant hunt. He was a quite shot and a keen outdoorsman. He was soft spoken, gracious and a true gentleman.

Oh my god I've been waiting for this forever!! I would kill to have footage of this. There is no way.. NO FUCKING WAY.. that would be like a 900 ft shot!!! Impossible. The scoreboard is at least 30 feet behind the CF wall. So if you hit the bottom of it, its 430. Now imagine another 100 feet in the air or whatever it is to the crown. To hit that distance at that height... there is no way. That old man is out of his mind

I In my own way, Must step In here In defense of Bo Jackson, I remember In 1988, The Royals were Playing the Red Sox In Fenway Park, Bo was on 1st base when I turned the channel to the game, Bruce Hurst was pitching, He had a great pickoff move and He was trying to hold Bo as close to first base as possible, Hurst was throwing over to first base a bunch of times, And I was saying to myself, Bo Is practically at first base, Why is Hurst paying attention to Jackson so closely???? I got my answer when Hurst threw a pitchout to Rich Gedman, Gedman If I remember correctly, made the American League all star team that year, He was known at the time as an excellent defensive catcher with a "gun for an arm", A pitchout Is when the catcher steps out of His crouch to receive the pitch to get His legs under Him to get even more power to a throw to second or third base.... The Red Sox on the pitchout timed It perfectly, Bo Jackson was going on the steal of second when the pitchout was thrown....But here Is what happened next, Bo Jackson not only stole second....He STOLE SECOND STANDING UP....Bo was so fast he was already at second base well before the throw by Gedman....I was blown away, 99 time's out of 100, When the pitchout Is called exactly right, The runner trying to steal a base gets thrown out....In my opinion, If Bo Jackson did not hurt his hip In the NFL, He would have had a Hall Of Fame career of many years In Baseball especially....What He pulled off that day In Fenway Park made me a believer In Bo Jackson, Thus I believe that Bo DID hit the crown at Royals Stadium during batting practice.... Anyway that Is my memory of the Amazing Bo Jackson, I hope that He & his family are doing well, Thank You.

The scoreboard they show in this video was not the scoreboard when Bo was here. This video shows the new scoreboard installed in 2009 (?). I don't know the specs, but the new one seems taller than the older one. Regardless, he never hit the "Crown". Hitting the base of the scoreboard is a bomb, which he did do in a game. I've been to too many games at the K to count, and I've only ever seen it done once besides Bo (hitting the base of the scoreboard on the fly).
