Bo Bassett and His Father After His First Ironman Title and PIAA

Спорт

Caught up with the Bassett Family after the Ironman Saturday Evening at Walsh Jesuit High School in Cuyahoga Falls. We talked about what it was like as a parent to watch their child win the most prestigious high school tournaments. Retiring from coaching , how the PIAA and District 6 parents and kids have it out for these youngsters that just want to work hard and focus on their education. PIAA has a double standard for other schools that allow in season transfers from out of state. Bo Bassett, Mason Gibson, Jax Forrest all have been railroaded from ever becoming 4 time PA State Champions. They have had these goals since they were little kids. They all grew up competing together . The PIAA found 0 ounce of recruiting in their investigation and yet they are still given these harsh penalties. We need to get this story shared with the biggest sports media members in the country to get some traction. Help me and these boys get back to eligible status in the PIAA. Stay tuned for my story that I am putting together on the PIAA and their double standard Practices and how they want to punish kids that work hard and earn everything! Keep an eye out for the next big video from me

Wow I didn't know that PIAA pulled that. What a bummer. Fond memories of competing in Hersey myself. Sorry to hear the news.

PIAA is a joke. What they did to these boys is an absolute disgrace! They had several options which would've kept these boys wrestling and an opportunity to wrestle in states!

What a shame that the kids get punished. They did nothing wrong. PIAA sucks for doing this to these kids.

@Marek Polcha suspend the team not the kids. They should be allowed to wrestle. It's ridiculous I'm from Ohio I have no horse in the race. I'll bet all you sorry penn state fans will be rooting for him when he's at Penn state where he will be RECRUITED but that's ok. Lololol. Hell BO come be a Buckeye your welcome here

It is a shame for the kid but don’t lump every school in that scenario. Majority of schools don’t do that!

Handpicking athletes to all go to the same school or schools is called recruiting. Illegal in most states. So the magical transfer of stud wrestlers into a given area will always raise an eyebrow. Brandon High School in Florida should know all about that. There were countless accusations over the years but only got caught with shenanigans once.

That bullshit James and the PIAA allows schools like St Joes Prep to have kids from NJ on the roster and they have been dominating PA football for years. Those kids were all recruited to play there. The problem with PIAA wrestling admins is that they are getting input from old guard wrestling coaches on who should be eligible and who shouldn't

@rickybobby7944 wasn't implying that that they did it but it doesn't surprise me. When I was growing up, the only way you could go to another school outside of the district that you resided in , was if the school you wanted to go to, offered a class that the school you're supposed to go to, didn't offer. Mind you this was Florida in the late 80's going into the 90's.

No doubt you would be a 4 time state champ,it's sad they won't give you and others a chance,Bo, to me your the kid to beat, your the best in the world and I'm a fan of yours, but always remember when your on the mat ready to wrestle,no matter who it is,give 100% not 99% because that 1% could come back to bite ya,when your team huddles up,raise all your hands and say,100%
