Symptoms of fault
Seats rocking or sliding forwards and back as you accelerate and brake. Wobbling or excessive movement. This is a very common fault with all Z3 models.
The problem
The seat rail bushings wear; causing excessive seat movement.
The poor quality rubber bushes within the seats sub frame tracks wear, perish or completely disintegrate and ultimately fail causing excess movement in the rails. This causes the symptoms noted above. This is a very common fault with all Z3 models. OEM replacement bushes if fitted would just fail again as these are also made from a poor quality rubber not suited to the application.
Vehicles affected
All Z3 models
Z3 E36 E37 E38 1994-2002 Roadster and Coupe.
Z3M M Roadster M Coupe
Associated part numbers
52108401291, 52108401292, 52108399593, 52108398812, 52107137499.
The solution
Fit our upgrade seat runner bushes and stop the excess movement in your seats.
Our repair bushes are easy to fit and will cure these faults permanently. Constructed from the proven material Delrin; our part will not deteriorate like the OEM bushes and are designed to last the lifetime of the vehicle. Our kit includes 8x bushes to repair both passenger and drivers seats. An extremely common fault fixed with our repair kit.

Great instruction with a ladies voice which is clear and concise and easy to listen to. Wonderful, no background music that obliterates the instructional words on other sites.

Thanks for the video. Had this issue with my '99 M Roadster, no more! One thing to emphasize, make sure you keep the rails exactly as they are on each seat. I mistakenly put the left rail on the right track and vice versa on my driver seat and it caused the seat to move the opposite direction of the switch!

Good video. Thanks! Because the original bushings were completely dissolved to goo, the unthreading count was 2 turns less than the re-threading turn count. With the seat in the full rearward position during removal, both carriers were 7 turns to remove, but 9 turns to reinstall. Also, the receiver "key" at the tip of the assembly that sleeves with the drive rod is square and it is helpful to pre-align the threaded rod to match the drive rod orientation.

Why not wrap a piece of tape or a dab of paint on thread area as a marker instead of counting turns? Though I find it odd that you're paying around $20 for a set of plastic washers that you still have to sand down to fit properly. They should be the proper thickness in the first place.

Great video thank's, Just one of the sliders has an L on it should go on the left side of the seat otherwise the electrical command will be inverted and as stated below do not screw tight the 2 x T25 Torx screws on the sliders, to much friction will block the rail track.

Better than counting turns is to measure the length from one end to place where goes bushings.

Hi X8R, I've bought your bushings and followed the video instructions, but I have an issue when it comes tightening the 2 x T25 Torx screws on the sliders. When I tighten them they power seat motor goes under a lot of stress, however when they are loose or not on at all the motor works fine. The new bushings have been aligned correctly, and just comes to question is this why the original part is rubber to compensate for the "wiggle" in the tracks? Any feedback is appreciated so I can have it secured in my car.

Might have the thread count wrong vs the other rail and it's binding. I find it better to measure with a tape or ruler before disassembly instead of counting threads

Hi man Your comment about tighten the 2 x T25 torx screws help me to find and solve the issue about the stress that I have in seats motor. I find that I had pushed a lot deeper than the ideal this metal thing with the bushes inside. And the hole was not exactly in the center. That causes this problem and in my opinion is dangerous to burn the motor. If anyone wants to test the seat rail movement before place it in the car can do this by connecting a 12V battery directly to the motor's plug. And for removing to the other side just change the polarity in battery
