Have you had issues in the past or why do you make it so extraordinarily obvious and repeatedly display that the German Autobahn doesn't have a speed limit? Some months ago, I've never seen any remark in that regard in your videos but suddenly, it appears like you need to defend yourself doing that by stating that it's legal.

What a great review guys! Really high quality content! Can you just add what is the consumption driving it "normal".

@AutoTopNl Great review but why are you saying "you wouldn't want to hear the diesel sound ?" The Active Sound system on BMWs doesn't really produce a "fake sound" in the cabin: it amplifies the engine noise, but without changing it.

Seems I may be the odd one out but I really enjoyed this style of review - perhaps you can do a combination of the POVs and this? Either way, great content as always!

Had an X3 M40D as a rental in Germany this week. Did 400km‘s on the autobahn. You can see on the autobahn at speed Max is constantly making small corrections with the wheel. It just doesn‘t track true and therefore is tiring to drive on long distances at high speed, just like an X4 I rented last year. It‘s steering is set up a bit to direct in my opinion and doesn‘t offer much in the way of feel. In highspeed corners, you set the car up and then it doesn‘t hold its line very well; it starts to tramline a little. Tirepressures were ok. All this, combined with the high chassis and sensitivity to crosswinds doesn‘t make it a favourite with me. But these are trades all SUV’s suffer from in my experience. Engine and gearbox are perfect for the job though. Wouldn‘t buy one though if you live in Germany 😄

Almost similar 0-100 km/h, but after 100 km/h, things change a lot in favor of M40i. About 1s to 160km/h and about 3s to 200km/h, so I wouldn't quite compare in-gear acceleration. Performance wise is not only about 0-100.

C'est rien du tout cette différence. Rien ne vaut le couple et la reprise d'un diesel musclé 👍. Pas besoin d'aller chercher les 6000 tours/min pour avoir de la performance... Et pas besoin d'aller faire le plein tous les 300 km...

VDH Automotive the Audi v6 diesels are not comparable with inline 6 from BMW! Specially the 400hp version.....

I have those seats. it's because they are ventilated /cooled. I do like the other seats more but I really wanted cooled seats

I have a 335d touring 2018 shadow…. BMW want to buy it back and I’m thinking one of these? Is it worth it?

I found the lack of torque in the m40i a bit disappointing. Went with 40d and it just pulls everywhere and mpg is much better. Only issue I've had is a clogged dpf filter because prior owner must have been doing short journeys.

What a beauty, the car I mean!

I really like the new way you are recording you new videos in, but I think it would be better if you would keep recording when you are driving with a gopro on your head, that is just better.

Great review, also the new way with the splitted camera, is imo very nice 👍🏽

Cool review... X3 M40i would be the sweet spot for me with a JB4 and "m performance exhaust". It would sound absolutely MEGA and be the ultimate family car that would embarrass hot hatches like the Audi S3, VW Golf R, Ford Focus RS and the new 2 litre 4 pot fart can M135i in terms of straight line performance in real world daily driving conditions. Cold starts every morning on the school run, you could never get bored of the B58! If you have deep pockets/a 2nd car go for the petrol M40i. I change my car every 2 to 3 years max. However, the M40d doe's make a lot more sense for a long term car (3yrs +) and if you are doing a lot of mileage the M40d would be the better investment financially. Both absolute monsters for SUV's. either way is a win. Just depends on your lifestyle/requirements.

Just bought a 12 months old w/ 20TKM - will pick up next week. Look at the packages as Innovation, Entertainment, Business Professional, Winter. I don't have the winter package instead I get the M seats, adaptive suspension, 21" wheels, adaptive LED's. Furthermore Driving Assistant Plus & Parking Assistant Plus. So it depends on what you expect. I'd look for the packages first & then look into the fine tuning. White, silver colors I don't like too much. But there are nice combos out there. Mine comes in carbon black w/ Vernasca Cognac M seats.
