Changed the center caps on my X5 that were 6 years old and the valve stem caps. Looks new and fresh. Best money I ever spent!

I just bought these exact replacements for my X5 2009 and it didn’t fit. Which one did you purchase? Please help! Thanks
I just bought alpina ones for my 535i, will do this tommarow , thank you for saving me from having to take the wheel off!!!
The one your using and the one everyone buys online apparently fits loose with BMW 3 series, so I ordered the same kind but took the new emblem apart and incorporated it with original parts to secure the new emblem your using. Very simple but works awesome!
Awesome video. Thank you so much for posting this. I just bought a 2007 Z4 and I was considering ordering a set for my wheels as well!
In the UK I just brought a set of eBay and they were less than £9 for the complete set, really happy with them, and even if they fail after 5 years or so they are cheap enough to replace compared to the original BMW prices! Fitting to a 2006 BMW Z4 2.5i SE it now looks very nice :)
thanks for this video! really simple! other videos are showing removing the wheel, using a jack, etc. This one is the simplest, just tried it and it works! awesome!
Thank you sooooooooooooo much! One of my caps disappeared, so I got 4 new ones and I wasn't really sure how to replace them. You're video carried me though the process with no worries. Job done! Thanks again!
This is a massive improvement on the exterior looks!!! really shines a modern touch... I'm gonna do the same with my E34!!!
love it man about to change out mine for my E38 didn know it was this easy !
Very good presentation. Tape over knife edge is excellent suggestion. Tks mate!
I have an Audi, but came here for easy tips...you were great! Thanks
I just bought some of these for my own car and was wondering how to get the old ones off and the new ones on(without taking the wheels off of course). Looks like an easy job, thanks for the info.

hey bro where did you order them at ?
If you're throwing away the old caps, just drill them and pull them out from the centre with a screw driver - don't risk a knife against alloy, even with a bit of tape over it.
Thank you I replaced the hood emblem, these are a great mod as well
Works AWESOME! Thank you!
I tried this on a set on enkei rims, it snapped the blade and scratched the rims abit. Im gonna use the velcro option tomorrow.
You can replace the roundels on the e39 525s with the covers that cover the lugs. The roundels pop out the same way.
Thanks buddy my 2003 v8 centennial mustang has the rim caps didn't know how to remove without unknowing damaging it I knew it was simple lol thanks👍🏽
Just replaced mine, what an EASY job!
Excellent vid.
Great show and explanation! Will try your way without jacking up the car...
very helpful great video!
Hello having a hard time with this I got 19 inch gloss black STR 607 rims on my 2009 bmw 335i I want to change the center caps or sticker not sure what size to get ?
At 1:55 what type of knife are you using to take off the center cap?
Thanx 4 the vid.!! ... Good to know I don't have to take all the wheels off just to swap caps. ... It's Saturday morning I'm going to put my new carbon fiber caps on right this instant.!!!!
I used an old windshield sucker from an old sat nav to pull mine. Worked well.
thanks! very helpful
I also like the valve dust caps BMW Logo on the tyre ..
Nice looks great. If you can't get the cap off don't need to take the wheel off. Drill a hole right in the centre and pry it off with a screwdriver
Good advice THANK YOU
Yeah looks great bro thanks for the tutorial.
Not all OEM BMW parts are made in Germany. There are "genuine" part factories in other countries. Amazing wheels on that M5 btw.
Very helpful Ryan on your video, at 1:55 using masking tape on a knife will help prevent you from damaging your rims? Will electrical tape work as well?
@E39Source
7 жыл бұрын
Electrical tape will work as well. The knife is just a standard pocketknife, a small screwdriver will work as well.
Thanks, this was really helpful as mine had started to blister. I am now going to order some so my wheels look nice again.
Perfect idea. I used a small flathead screwdriver and wrapped in painters tape.
I need those lug nut covers , mine are orange 😊
Hey bro whats the name of the website you order them ?
About to buy some CSL wheels for my 325ti compact and this has been very helpful.
What size is for e90's?
Thanks. really useful
I believe those are 68mm , the thing that brought me here I have an E39 and the centre bore is 74.1 mm and 95% of the rest are 72.6mm. Making getting wheels a PITA, have you ever used a wheel hub adapter? Do they work or do they affect the nice drive of the 5 series?
@E39Source
8 жыл бұрын
+Bassmaster Florida Never used a hub adapter, I wouldn't recommend it though.
I installed floating wheel caps like this on my 225 6 months ago only for one of them to pop out whilst I was driving a few days back - is it worth putting adhesive in to make them stick? I dont see that being feasible if I ever want to get them out again, so I'm not really sure.
@E39Source
4 жыл бұрын
The proper size center caps should pop in without any adhesives. If they do not, I have used electrical tape around the perimeter of the cap to make them tighter.
I love to see your passion for the car and that you really spend time and money on attention to detail, but seriously 60$ for a set of center caps you must be crazy xDDDD
thanks, good video
just get small round sucker puller works just fine same as pulling small dints out great little tool to have
Very nice.
Thanks!
Suction cups!
You can wrap duck tape around your fingers so the outside but is sticky and use that to pull the caps off
mine light up and the bmw logo stays centered and doesnt spin...love mine

love it. thanks for the video. i have a 03 e39 525i. i love your wheels. where can i find them?

OEM style 65's are extremely expensive but can be found on ECSTuning.com If you want to go aftermarket there are several knock offs available, but that wouldn't be my first choice.
It's interesting how a simple center cap changes the look of the rims. Take a tuning rim and put an original bmw cap in it and you will see the difference!
Can I know the model number for the rims? My E36 is using the exact same model as yours but 17 inches only.. Thanks
@E39Source

They're BMW style 65, 18".
Thnx man 😀👍
nice! thanks
8 years and nobody noticed the M small badge on the wheel is upside down?
My new wheel caps are not secure in place. They got in there but they are moving just a tiny bit and are lose enough to rotate easily just by touching them. Im afraid they will drop off while driving. Cant use my old ones cause they lost their paint, any ideas how to secure them in place without ruining the wheel with glue? I was thinking a bit of silicone but will it hold up?
@E39Source
6 жыл бұрын
I had that problem on one of mine, but I wasn't worried about it falling out. I actually used some car detail clay on a few of the prongs to hold it static in one position. This has been effective for years now.

Hey I have the same probably on my center caps. I was thinking of adding some body filler on the inside of the rim to make up for the space needed to make a snug and secure fit. I didn’t want to add glue because I figured glue would be harder to take off if I needed to take off the caps and. I figured body filler would be easy to sand down in the case of me having to balance my wheels and adding body filler again wouldn’t be so hard. If you figured another way to make them fit better, please share!
Im surprised that the valve stem caps are still on the car, around where i live, kids steal them off cars and put them on bikes

What size is my BMW 330e 2017 centre cap?

I have an E60 mpsort, mine also has the cheap looking grey around the emblem. It looks horrid haha. I was worried maybe the caps were different to the ones you replace them with. This has helped me out thanks
@E39Source

E60 uses these same caps!
Hi mate your old caps are genuine factory they are just the old style
This is probably a stupid question but I'm assuming I can do this to any wheels that I buy aftermarket. I'm able to put my BMW center cap in other wheels-- I think it looks awful when you have that stupid aftermarket center cap.
@E39Source
9 жыл бұрын
Depending on the aftermarket wheels... but I suppose you can put BMW center caps in there if you get the right size. I don't see why not.
Where do you find the little square M wheel emblem next to the cap?

OEM E39 M5 style 65.
if you are replacing them and can't get it out, you could simply drill a hole in the middle and pull it out. Taking the wheels off is silly.

Highly recommended as the video suggests to tape over the blade. Just stabbed my finger pushing the blade in.
You served in the military I can tell
The best way to do this is to grab a piece of packing tape or duct tape slap it on there and pull it off.
@KeanosMagicHat1

Does this actually work? Trying to avoid taking the wheels off, but keen to skip using a knife or similar too?
What is $
@E39Source
6 жыл бұрын
They are about $12.50/piece currently.
Replacement, not only take off..
Easy alternative: apply clear packing tape to the cap, leaving excess on either end. Grab the excess and yank. The cap comes off with the tape. Remove the tape right away so it doesn't set or stick. If your caps are really old and cracked, you'll have to be careful removing the tape, but if they're that far gone, you'll want to replace them anyway.
Drill a hole in the center then simply pry it out.
Did it with a flathead in about 1 minute lol
I don t think are genuine😁 Mine says made in germany and are made from one piece. I bought "new" ones second hand..but like new but 100% genuine
you sound like Luka Magnotta.
Yes, I got a set and replaced my car wheel cap. Cool and thanks www.autowheelcapled.com/index.php/default/bmw-x-series-x1-x3-x6-x5-68mm-wheel-center-caps-blue-white-4pcs-set.html
13.95 a piece wtf that's almost 60 for 4
I used an old piece of clay to get my wheel caps off
Lol I bought these for 10 euros for 4 pieces on aliexpres 🤣

BMW original ones are from Germany. These ones are the cheap pattern ones, and should have cost about 20% of the OE ones. I have both types.
@rolliseventeen
4 жыл бұрын
@@craigykart Over the years, it is possible that different companys got a contract to produce the original parts with changing designs. if you got the parts from original parts dealer, it should be ok. about 60% of the parts are not made in germany and are coming from the rest of europe. this is the case for most cars here. so, maybe you still got the new official batch bmw spare parts from you dealer.
Once removed from the rim can the same cap be used on another (same size, same car) rim or it gets damaged? Thanks 😊
@E39Source
Жыл бұрын
If you push them out from behind (wheel removed), you can certainly re-use them. Or if you carefully pry them out with something plastic from the front.
