Chris, thanks so much for pointing out the mirror screw (11 years ago, lol)... egad I knew something was holding my K1200 switch together but just could not figure it out and my many searches on the K-bike forum were not much help either! Awesome sauce, thanks!

One of the 4 reservoir cover screws? Just remove the other 3 and try to apply a little pressure to the cover upwards as you try to remove the buggered up screw. If that doesn't work, drill the screw head off and then remove the cover. You'll be able to remove the remainder of the screw with locking pliers.

Wow, that explains a lot. I've been working on bikes for a long time and this was driving me nuts. I knew it was something simple but, seriously; a hidden fastener behind the mirror? WTF BMW?

Hi Chris, it's me again. I got screwed today with one of the four screws holding the reservoir of my r1200classic. It's stuck and the screwdriver jammed inside ruining it. Any idea on how I can remove it now without having to drill in it?

Sure. The Police Motors use them so it should be available. The part number? I have no idea, sorry. Call a BMW dealer and ask for the right handlebar switch for Authorities.

Do you have a video on how to change the heated grips? I have to change my OEM grips with OEM grips. Great video, was trying to figure this out for a while.

The grips are held on by 2 Phillips head screws on each grip positioned near thumb and forefinger positions.

@@ChrisR.Harris Thanks. I'll look for them tonight. When I take the screws off, will pulling the cable off be a problem for both sides?

@@juliomatamoros1229 Yes, the wires run inside the handlebars at least part way, completely on some models. Follow the wires to the connector and disconnect. Then the metal connectors must be pushed from the plastic connector housing by depressing the tab on each metal connector and pushing it from the plastic block. Sounds more confusing than it is but is certainly more aggravating to do than it sounds. Good luck.

The BMW part number on my R1150RT 2003 model made in Berlin is 61317708360 but it s best to check it in the BMW dealer order system using your VIN number (or its last digits) Thanks Chris for the vid.

BMW changes part numbers as often as I change my underwear. Always check before ordering but even if you order a superseded part number the dealer processing your order should have the new number.
