Before installing a full exhaust, I wanted to see if this would satisfy my desire for a little more noise.

    There is also a flapper valve up in the header. At least there was one on the 2018 gen 2.. You need to pull the cables to open it, and then secure them to stay open to get the sound or it will flap open and closed at the top..

    Only way of doing it properly is using a servo delete module. If your bike goes to a dealer and they run a diag on it, it with throw error codes up. The motor relies on resistance and as soon as you remove the cables, the motor looses the reference. I used a Healtech module and it runs perfectly.

  • @lg740xx

    Healtech has a new one for bmw - keeps everything in place but now has a switch - open/close as you like

    Cool, this helps me to understand how it all works, because I need to do the opposite :D my servo motor stopped working and the bike is way loud because of that, so I want to install a new working motor in there:)

  • @Vincenzo911
    @Vincenzo9117 ай бұрын

    It's only louder while idling, at full throttle the sound is identical because the the exhaust valve would be fully open anyway. If you need something loud the catalyst must be removed .

    Hej focused garage I did this on my gen 2 2023 , and I have engine error code now, I did same as you ? What know I need a servo bud to conect so the code go away? Or do I need to go to bmw 😢

    Can we get a follow up to this video? Also this is awesome. Thanks for the help. I was trying to learn this for the servo buddy, to put with the new exhaust. Did you have any faults? How much louder? Won’t be able to tell but can you rev it a little bit outside?

    Over 1,000 miles since this mod and all has been great. No issues whatsoever, no codes. It is a little louder, but I still couldn't call the bike "loud" if that makes sense.

    Thanks for the vid, helpful, however one part i did not catch was when did you get the actual butterfly inside the pipe opened? The purpose of the motor is open/close it, and my understanding is that the default position is closed until one goes to a higher RPM ? what am i missing ? EDIT- the butterfly remains open when the bike is off, put my slip-on today and it was opened and of course remained open with servo buddy delete.

    Hiya pal. Do you know the DB level on the Pro Race exhaust Gp-S1 or get it recorded? I'm just curious, as I've bought some but now having afterthought on constantly getting pulled or neighbours' complaining, etc. Your thoughts and views are welcomed 👍🏻

    It's only louder really when it cold starts, it quietens right down once the engine is warm. Don;t get me wrong, it's definitely louder than with the valve closed, but once it's warm it's negligible.

    So no need to order a servo buddy? Could you just disconnect the cables and zip tie them somewhere till you want to use it again? Would it flash an error??

    MY advice is to get the baffle from BMW. Like you, I put the Black Widow headers on and it is just obnoxiously loud from a cold start, so much so that it sets off car alarms in enclosed carparks. The baffle keeps it loud, but quietens it enough so that your neighbour's lives aren't ruined.

  • @joeRepublic85

    @joeRepublic85

    @@FocusedGarage Headers are very straightforward to install. If you can remove the servo, you can definitely install the headers, just remember that you will need a servobuddy to clear any ECU fault, and at some point, you will need to remap the engine as she fuels pretty lean once the headers are on (BMW maintained my warranty under the proviso that I had it remapped). That said, re-mapping removes a lot of the exhaust pops and bangs. Also recommend the akra baffle from BMW if you do it. It's very, very loud from cold start.
