The E92 is an excellent platform. As a completely standard car it didn’t quite have the crisp edge the E46 did but with a few small changes it makes a world of difference. The S65 carried on the S54s international engine of the year title and record holding displacement category win for every year of production.

@reecewcrawford5082

@@samuellaurent6139 not exactly. The 5.0L v10 in the e60 M5 was co developed by BMW’s F1 race division team and crafted to best replicate a race cars engine on the road. The v8 in the e92 was then produced using the same production line setup and a similar engine block structure (the term removed 2 cylinders is not entirely true and its much more complex than that). Other than that, in all honesty it’s not that similar besides the fact that it’s NA.

@@sbvisuals63 it's funny how when people want to prove a point they reach for superficial labels instead of facts. Fact: #1 high revving v8 always better than anything inline or v6 period. #2 more power throttle response and power throughout the entire rev-range in e9x m3 (low end; mid-range; top end; you name it, it has it). #3 engine of the year 4 straight years in a row. The amount of emotion and raw feedback it gives is second to none other of the m variant bmw's produced period. The only area advantageous for the e46 is lighter chassis (weight). Not power to weight ratio, just weight (being lighter). Ur statement was a fan-boy statement with no substance to back it up. Im on my second e9x m3. It's got the supercharger kit on the way. Best car I've ever owned. Will always keep one in the family, as my race/performance whip. I'm currently looking at an 2005 e46 as my regular work horse to replace my 550i m-sport. Sold my E92 M3 over 3 years ago. Would I have another? Too right I would. Wonderful car to drive on the open mountain roads around me. Brilliant handling and excellent steering feel for a big coupe and as said, what a noise from the induction if a little too sedate from the exhaust but easy to rectify with the common 2 pipe exhaust mod many owners undertake which gives the car that wonderful V8 Growl. Great watch this SCD.

Same, I'm keeping my E92 forever.
Could not agree more,I have had mine 4 years and fitted a supercharger..drives very similar with an even more rampant top end. It’s so awesome! Cars today are this... going fast now isn’t cool or special..it’s how it goes about it that’s special. Everything is fast today but very few cars do it with soul, emotion and passion. Enter the e92 m3,it gives you feelings other (even much faster cars) can’t give you. It’s timeless shape and imo they’re getting better with age! I can’t see where I’d go next, new cars leave me feeling a bit underwhelmed. Great video!
Great videos folks. You do amazing work....I’m a huge fan. Please keep it coming.
As I have had one of the other 21 UK registered manual Competition Package E92s, from new, I heartily agree! I also remember, and shared, the underwhelming response to the 2007 launch cars, but they were poorly specced (Imola Red/Bamboo and on 18 wheels....) and the absolute best colours for the E92 are light - especially Alpine White, or Mineral White. The styling/sculpture of the E92 really does not show through in darker colours, or in 2D when you see pictures or videos. Seeing in the metal for the first time definitely started to change my mind, and when I drove one on the Nordschleife it was clearly a long way ahead of the E46 in handling terms (I was on my 2nd E46 M3 at the time). Standard E92 M3 rides much better than the E46 M3 - so does the CP, but with added sharpness to the handling. Icing on the cake is much better refinement when not trying, and that engine is absolutely sublime. You need a manual to really appreciate the superb throttle response, and the rate at which the revs fly at the top end, where the engine feels and sounds totally unstressed, definitely mean you need some shift-lights. Why BMW did not provide these for manual cars is a mystery. Fortunately, I have them on my M Performance steering. And the Comp Pack wheels are the best looking ever put on a BMW. But heavy.... Oh....nearly forgot....nice video!
Quality video! It’s great to see content that really exemplifies the qualities that this car has, and the praise that it deserves. I’ve had my E92 M3 competition for 4 years now and if anything I enjoy it more with each passing year. My mind was set on a manual gearbox, but the DCT truly won me over when I test drove it. It compliments the engine perfectly and I wouldn’t want any other setup now. It’s been tastefully modified, and the latest addition was a full carbon Eventuri setup (intake, plenum and airbox lid). The induction noise it now makes is truly intoxicating, it’s literally like a V8 CSL. With the windows up and on wide open throttle, all you can hear is the S65 bellowing out that distinctive roar. It’s truly transformed the car. It would be great if you could do another video on this setup, it truly needs to be experienced. They won’t make anything like this again, and I can’t see myself ever wanting to let it go.

The S65 engine makes peak power at 8300rpm, redline starts at 8400 and ends near 8500. I know a few hundred rpm don't mean much but i see it commonly mistaken, and it actually matters in a car where peak power is produced so close to redline, where you have to wring every rpm out of it for max performance, particularly in the manual tranny with wider spaced gearing.

After driving it, we are NOT surprised 😍
This has to be the best video on the e92 m3 🔥🔥🔥 wish we have those roads to really stretch this beast. To be featured next to a Ferrari & Lamborghini speaks volumes. Great Video!

Thanks! Check out our 2 latest videos, Episodes 4 and 5 of the series!
Great cars. The period from 2000 to around 2013 was great for high revving normally aspirated engines with card like Porscher 996/997 GT3/RS, BMW M3 E46 & E92, Ferrari 360/430, Pagani Zonda, Carerra GT etc. Modern high performace turbo or hybrid motors don't hold the same appeal to me.

Deserving!
Aston Martin V8 Vantage!!!!!
Great car especially the manual version. You can't beat a decent sized normally aspirated high revving engines found in the likes of the E46/E92 M3, Porsche 996/997GT3/RS and Ferrari 430 coupled to a manual gearbox.

No you can't! That whole era of cars was wonderful.
Cars like this aren’t made anymore not because they don’t want to, but because they can’t. Last of a breed....

Yep exactly
I had a m135i and fancied something different. Bought a Lupo GTI which I absolutely love. I'm pretty sure the E92 M3 will be my next car I just don't know if I can get rid of the Lupo just yet!
