This is the best video out there for replacing a valve cover gasket, on a 2010 BMW 528i, by far! Great Job!

Great video. I replaced the VC on my 2010 X5 E70 30i. The new valve cover comes with all the bolts but three of them. I figured out what part numbers they were and bout them from FCP Euro. The center bolt is 11127558453 and the two other ones that go on the lower part of valve cover were the metal bracket is are 11127558454. Believe me they are the exact ones, I bout them and installed them.

Witten some c-clamp pliers work really well on getting that spark plug metal part out just kind of lock it in place so you don't have to keep jiggling the pics

Did you ever get the part numbers for the two aluminum bolts holding down the wiring harness on a N52?

Should the battery be unplugged before doing this or not necessary ? Some tutorials mention unplugging the battery when removing valvetronic motor

I purchased my valve cover gasket kit, however, the gasket in your video and the one I ordered are totally different. Mine is flat and is not designed to be pushed/fit into place on the cover and the spark plug gasket is one solid rubber flat piece. My 06 530i E60 N52 engine is the same as the car in this video correct?

Definitely a lot more steps involved compared to the E39. This is why I was hesitant to get the E60 as it is much less DIY friendly.

Do you absolutely have to take the firewall out or is there another kind of extension you can use to get to the one bolt in the back?

where are likely areas of oil leakage on to exhaust downpipe with 2011 528i? it’s my son’s car , so I don’t have access to it except for repairs, but it seems to leak on passengers side , down the head, and on to the exhaust.

I read online that the E60 shipped to USA with plastic cover and rubber VCG has METAL bolts... please confirm. Also, there are no symptoms or codes but, should I have the Eccentric Shaft Sensor replaced too? 2008 528i e60 N52k w. 96k miles.

Does anybody know the purpose of the "secondary air valve" shown at 15:00? Why are some blocked off and some not? Does it make a difference?

You get that horrible noise when removing the servo motor BECAUSE the service procedure calls for turning the bolt FORWARD till resistance is felt. Hopefully this helps someone. Peace.

I just did this job over the weekend. Turns out I must have chipped the rear right corner of the cover and the gasket didn't seat. Major oil leak. Replacing the valve cover with a new one. Well I get to drive the truck for a few days. Great video.

I did this job about 6 months, had the exact same experience getting the valvetronic motor off. I tried hard not to let it spring back on its own (valve train?) but it did just like yours. I put it all together and the car hesitates and has a loss of power and slight rough idle. Tried many times to reset end points but that only helps for a little while. Any Ideas?

yeah this guy didnt remove his VVT properly, first you need to turn clockwise till resistance is felt than undo the 2 top bolts and than spin counter clock wise to back the VVT out. it should never ever be springing out
