Great Video!!! Thank you!!! Yes, you are expert and knowledgeable on this N52. I own an E60 2007 525i and most of the issues you mentioned was repairs I got fixed because previous owner totally neglected this Ultimate Driving Machine. Don't understand why people trash their cars. I think you explained it best by saying they just care about the outside look of the vehicle. Love this BMW!!! Drives like a dream after the needed care and attention. Thanks again.

It’s exactly that mate people do only care about how the outside looks so people say nice car nobody they ever meet or see on the road will say open the bonnet and let me see and they don’t even know what to look for so for them the underneath isn’t something to care about just the outside and wheels these cars are brilliant hence why my one has stayed with me so long and even if the engine failed I would put another in with no issues

My N52 is pushing 150,000 miles in my 09 128i and runs great. I've had to address some of the issues mentioned but all in all fantastic motor. It's the last NA I6 BMW motor if I'm not mistaking. I wish the M division would have done something with it, like some mock ITBs with a 10k redline or something, would have helped aftermarket support I think.

I feel a bit bad about having N52B25 now that you said it has issues with valve stems : ( , but there was no option of 3.0L N52 in coupe body. It burns a bit of oil (1L per 3k miles) but I love it : ) It's punchy for 2.5L non turbo engine. last week I drove 07 plate Merc CLK280 7 G tronic (231BHP) and it was terrible compared to BMW in terms of overall driving experience. I am glad to know that water pump was revised in 06. My car is 07.

Hey man. I was writing in your older videos for the engine. Here's an update.Car is e90 2005 with n52b25A.I dont know is this car come from factory with 2 disa's or the previous owner changed the manifold?Whatever i changed all spark/coil plugs.Changed 2 disa's ( OEM).Changed the both vanos solenoids OEM.But still cold car have a little iddling but not a big deal. But now when its summer and its hot when i turn on the air conditioner for cold air sometimes starts a big shaking and iddling.I dont have issues for the warm air when its cold? Why is this happening? Also i didn't make any software changes.I mean after changed all theese things should i have to do a reset for the MSD80's adaptations? As i know this ecu doesn't reset his adaptations after changing untill someone reset them with inpa/ista.Also i think this is the other reason i didnt find any difference in car's running.Only when i changed the big disa felt a litle bit well. And another question about the steering system.I bought the car with this whistle sound when turning on place or around with 10-15km/h but when driving normal its not whistling. When i stop to turn it happens again. With the time this continued with vibration and iddling and steering becamed a little bit hard to turn. But on full turnover now car makes vibration sound. The interesting is if i dont drive the car 2-3 days it stops just the little whistling and steering became easy to turn again. But after 1 day it's all back to old.My mechanic said its 100% the steering pump is gone. The fluid was changed but without results.Maybe the shaking started a little bit after changed it.Could it be some vacuum leak or she's really gone.I just hope you dont say the active steering rack cus she's 2/5 from the car price

I have a 2006 530i purchased at 130k miles and now it's at 185k and I would like to learn how to take care of my vehicle. Additionally, I was having a rough idle, I was told by my father's friend who is a mechanic to buy the cheapest vanos solenoids made in china and so I replaced them with those chinese solenoids attempting to save money and I am still having the same issue, do you think if I used OEM solenoids that would resolve the issue or is the problem most likely something else? we used a smoke machine to check for vacuum leak and there was no leak to be found. Many thanks

Thanks for the video's and all your hard work. Recently picked up a z4 coupe 3.0si with the same magnesium valve cover. There's no record of DISA valves being changed and it seems to be light on low end power lately so I'm looking to check the DISA valves. From what I have read they can both have motor failures and physical failures so I was thinking of loosening the large easy to get at DISA and putting a boroscope in the hole to check the operation/condition of the small one while the engine is running. Is this a good way of going about it? Plan is to change to PCV either way as my plugs were rather dark when I changed them. Please don't bash me but... thoughts on aftermarket DISA valves,? So many companies make them, so many price ranges, and the operation of them is so straight forward as far as I know. Thanks!

  • @BMWDoctor

Mate you cannot buy aftermarket disa valves and you cannot send a stick down the manifold to see the other disa it’s fully closed up above you cannot see down there without removing the manifold when you remove the disa from ontop you will see exactly what I mean you have no chance of doing that

They’re excellent engines, my 2006 E63 630i Sport has 74,000 miles and a full main dealer s/h.. I do have the ticking lifter issue from cold, but admittedly I do quite short mileages which isn’t ideal. Will try the Forte additive and see if it helps. My BMW has done 4600 miles since its last major service so is due another oil change. The only other issue i have recently noticed is a slight rattle sound when revved to around 1400rpm from cold.. it disappears if I put it into gear (auto) and also disappears after a few miles once warmer.. It almost sounds like rattly clutch plates? Will have it investigated with the service. Excellent videos though, these cars might be becoming cheaper to purchase..but that doesn’t mean they can be run cheaply!

Yes mate our climate is quite the way with our cars and also the quality of parts used as we have quality control here mate I don’t think other countries have that as I said before most parts that are defects they send to other countries here that’s what I have been told I’m in Germany as we speak now i been here for a week now discussing stuff as we speak regarding cars and parts and there is a lot of information that a lot of people don’t know only the EU get high quality parts because from what Munich have said they can get fucked and lose the contract with the Eu hence why America’s parts always fail and I gotta be honest even this recall over here ain’t even out in other countries but will be next year which a lot of you guys are far behind compared to us as I said the pcv heater recall that was here in 2010 that recall is old and everyone was making it as if it was new on KZread this year and I never knew any of this until doing KZread that the uk is well well advanced compared to others with German cars also in Australia and America you guys use a lot of gm transmissions still we got rid of gm after 2005

@@BMWDoctor very true statement im hearing you on the parts i only buy mine straight out of Germany or the UK 👍👍👍 Most of our transmissions are ZF in Aus and there were the GM transmissions used in in Some of the earlier cars like the 318i and stuff Interesting to here how far behind on the recalls though Keep the g8 educational sharing up Thanks for taking the time to make the vids 👍👍👍

@@BMWDoctor Well good maintenance can extend it but still its a common issue here in europe, 1 in 5 n52s suffer this issue, bought two e90s to resale with motor defekt, both valvetronic camshaft issues and about 200k KM done. Used valvetronic cam is 350$ so about 500-600 in repairs for new valvetronic motor as well. Also disa valves stuck sometimes. Currently own n54 but want to move to F30 328i with N20 motor but dont know anything about it, just about chain issues.

This video doesn’t apply to here pal I did this video for all the USA people Only. As your correct yes bmw gets a lot of cheap crap cars there there manufactured there and you get all the reject parts out on your cars here in the U.K. this simply ain’t the case For instance waterpump failure here in the U.K. doesn’t happen on the electric ones only in the USA Vanos solenoids only fail in the USA That’s because from what bmw finally released was they said where there parts are made any part that isn’t fit for the vehicles in the European Union will be sent over to the USA As a lot of parts come from the machines defective or failed or been thrown about in factory’s from trainees being taught and they mess up As here in the U.K. all parts have quality control and if that was sent here we wouldn’t be helping Europe out again so that’s why they give us the greatness of everything And the USA the crappiest models of everything and parts they want you guys to keep spending and keep spending to grow our European economy
