Shifting into final gear at 8250rpm and 310 km/h is just deliciously crazy for a saloon car. This model certainly had issues but still, what a car.

​@@yourmom9014It was/ is. I'm sorry, but an engine that's had all of its maintenance and done meticulously and still throws out the rod bearings after 50k miles is not worthy of the term reliable. I'll keep it with the engine, don't even get me started on that smg transmission. What a pile of junk! The manuals are much better, not only in terms of reliability but also in driving experience.

This V10 sound is just a blast...

The hype and excitement surrounding the M5 V10 and E9X M3 when they were launched remains unmatched by any other M car since. The engines represented M divisions peak motorsport derived high revving N/A engine development. Listen to that ITB equipped V10 sing. What an era!

@@zakelwe I've owned 2 e60 M5s and 1 e63 M6. They're not nearly as terrible as people make them out to be. And most people don't know how to unlock S6 shift mode so that doesn't help.

One of the most spectacular sounding engines ever. And bloody quick too

This kind of speed is nothing special at all now but the M5/M6 V10 comes alive past 100mph and into the 4th, 5th and 6th gears where it doesnt seem to lose any momentum and then the 350bhp hatchbacks of today start to realise what theyre missing. That and the fact the power delivery is FAR more satisfying than even a 700bhp turbo car because its more linear and more rewarding and doesnt fizzle out. And ummm,,,, have i mentioned the noise?

I agree,,,,,,,,, the acceleration up to 250 is ok,, but after 280,, and only 500+ bhp,, is still today utterly impressive,, I have an E55k and i know what that car can do,, but i think the E60 M5 will outrun it on topspeed

When it hit a 330 mark it still has about 1000 rpm till the red line. I think it can go at least 310 by GPS.

I have a Mercedes CLK C209 and the speedometer is probably one of the most accurate. About 3% off compared to GPS

Without seeing the video i know how bad the E90 and E60 series tachometer works i guess 300 tachometer is 270 km/h real GPS. Always been like that on those models for some reason. Had a friend who claimed his M6 E63 ran 310, when we took out a real GPS dragy it was 273. Its bad when people upload videos on youtube claiming it can do 330 km/h and that its 30 km/h faster than a AMG or RS from the same year... if people don't know this they gonna believe it 😅

Just a note many dont know, its not the E9x or E6x speedo per se. Normal non-M models got more normal errors... BMW likely calibrated the M models like this because it would look cool in most customers eyes.

Actually the gearbox lasts longer with the brutal shifts as the clutch has less time for friction rather than the smooth shifts.

@@jmsterdam less friction on the clutch is good for the clutch, but won't do anything to help the gearbox. Violent shifts will wear the gearbox. The clutch is not the gearbox. The clutch is the interface betwween the gearbox and the engine.

Ill probably always regret selling my S85, but i just didn't really like the E64 attached to it..or the SMG.

@electrikoptik my e91s reliability and optics makes up for all that ignition coil/rod bearing $. The sound of the v10 through open valves can't be replaced tho.🤣🤣

I recall having the opportunity to test drive an E63 M6 when new in 2005. Although the V10 engine was fabulous, I thought the SMG transmission ruined the experience.

Got a B58.. its just an awesome engine
