Here in Deutschland, we say "no matter your speed, there is always someone faster than you" so you have to drive on the right lane even if you drive at 300km/h

Effortless convo while driving 300km/h. AutoTopNL just never disappoints.

That V-10 is unbelievably exciting. My oldest son loaned me his M6 for a week. It had the V-10. I had it up to 170 mph and the speedometer was still climbing.

Huge respect for you max, always caring about horses or people nearby in general! love from sweden :)

that's crazy ignorance to other drivers on the road if you hit an animal or blow a tyre at that speed. nice fast car but sorry, crazy driving is for a race track not the public highway. cant you afford a day pass at nuremburg ?

Really agree about the sound. Nothing beats the natural aspirated engines. They truly sing through the rev range.

I totally get what you’re talking about of this cars exhaust-system - it sounds insanely incredible!

Oh that sound! S85 is a stunning engine. If you can stomach the potential issues and maintenance costs these are incredible driving snapshots of motoring history be it an E60/61/63/64. What's nice is how a C6 RS6/S6 and E60/E61 M5 drive completely differently even though the formula (big v10 family/exec car) is similar. Something for everyone!

Depends how you look at it. An LS7 came out around the same time, it has around the same hp (505 hp) and it is essentially a smaller, ligther engine, and a lot more reliable too. Might not have a crazy v10 sound i"ll admit, but if you destroke it and put in an aggressive cam it will also reach a high rpm (8000) despite being a pushrod engine.

You also drove the carrera GT, next could be the LFA one day ?

had the chance to drive the e61 v10 once, still remember it up to this day. absolute unit of a car!

for a very short time i got the chance to work at BMW M GmbH on this engine we were doing some engineering and developping some kind of mild hybrid V10. was interesting to work with them. they were so much more humble than all the guys from BMW AG and so much more nice to work with. So yes there was a M5 V10 mild-hybrid driving around in Munich. Never released however...

The E60 G-Power and manual gearbox still the fastest top speed sedan ever made!! Love this generation!

Not true. Twin engined sierra cosworth with very long gears did 292mph on the bonneville salt flats in 1997.

Tires truely make a world of difference on these E61's I have a set of Dinan Champion wheels that came with 275 Michelin Pilot Sports front and back and it made my 535XiT/6MT M-sport feel like a super car in the bends, masked the weight of car incredibly well.

This car is mighty. It will never stop being the coolest thing. The sound, the styling of the 5 series that sold 1 million units, the family body style. There are faster or better looking cars, but I'm not sure if there are many cooler cars.

Got stopped by police in my 1989 VW Polo 1.0 L 45 HP... I did 160kmh on the speedo, thought i go to jail... The video showed exactly 100kmh🤣👌🏻 But he was not happy with the location i choose for overtaking... Well, got a warning and left

If you're doing 200km/h at 5.000rpm, it has to be a fast sportscar/supercar that will do 300km/h at 7.500rpm and hit the limiter at over 8.000rpm, or you're nearly maxing out your ordinary car. But even if I pretend 200km/h is cruising speed, I think cars only need one overdrive gear. I don't understand cars like the Honda Accord, for instance, which hits top speed in 6th, but has ten gears. In that case, yes, I think those are stupid overdrives. But it's just my opinion. ;)

Wagons are so underrated but I love them! I think they look great!

I would have one, perhaps with a G-power kit added though? Also, BMW E-series M cars infamous speedometer error and all that, but one has to admit for the guys that bought and enjoyed these new, it had to have felt awesome seeing that speedo going 330+ back in the mid 2000s...

For this sound, I bought the M6 🤩🤩🤩

The V10 was one of the best Engines ever for High-performance Estates. Really love it. And what a moment - changing at 329 km/h to the right lane is epic. :D

Apart from new BMW’s being limited electronically, the turbocharged engines just can’t breathe as well that high in the rev range for that long

Turbo není ten problém. Nebo aspoň ne ten hlavní. Jedním z důvodů je koncepce V8 s křížovou klikou a bore/stroke poměrem skoro 1:1 vs. koncepce V10 s bore/stroke poměrem okolo 1:1,2. S tím se pojí možnost vyšších otáček, více koní, vyšší rychlosti. Další věcí, a to velmi podstatnou, je zpřevodování. Jednoduše řečeno - motor by to zvládl, ale BMW nemá důvod tohle dělat.

@ Ano, dobrej postřeh. Nejvíce mi dává smysl zpřevodování. Moderní turbomotory tento S85 překonávají snad ve všem, takže nevidím důvod, proč by ten motor neměl zvládnout minimálně to stejné.
