Compared to a real M model it is more suitable for everyday use 😉

You drive the same way I drive my C63s, tires spinning around corners, flooring it on straight aways etc. I LOVE IT! Love the content!

OK I have been watching reviews on the M340i xdrive for the past two weeks trying to get as much as I can on this car because I just ordered one. This has by far been the best review even though it’s a different year. Really well done man. I cannot believe how relaxed you were going 162 mph down the highway. You are a bad ass.

Just bought mine I'm so in love!

One of the things I love about this car is exactly as you said in the video. If you just drive it normally, it feels completely average and un-inspiring. As soon as you push it past about 5/10, it comes alive, and the character of the car becomes playful. BMW engineers pulled off some magic in that regard; it's comfortable in most cases, and playful when you want it to be.

I love this review. No bullshit and honest. I love the sound already! My M340i touring is on the water as I write on its way to NZ. White with black - including the grill!! This sort of review really validates my choice (not that I needed to). We get 382 bhp here (285kw) - a nudge more power. What a machine.

@RichJW This motor and transmission are simply sublime. Its as quick an an RS 4 to 100 but is much lower key - I like that.The new M3 touring is going to be an absolute stunner - too quick for me. So if I ever change my M340i touring I will just increase the leather - its got everything else. I think many people just dont realise how good this 3 series is. I have had audis for years - and they're good. But this unit is a step up.

Apart from the kidney grill and the exhaust. I love what they've done to the new 3 series. The exterior is the best its ever been since the E46. The interior looks amazing.

The G20 is actually inspired heavily by the E46 (Just look at the Headlights). BMW said it themselves because the people were asking for it. :)

Personally the E90 is my favorite since the E46, and the last 4 series was quite nice. I haven't really liked their other designs

Agreed, with one additional personal preference remark: I do not like the new daylight running lights. I think they should have stayed with full circles but to modernize them a bit, I found the circles to be so distinctive for BMW, truly unique and instantly recognizable. The new ones lose a bit of that distinctiveness. Apart from that and your remarks, 10/10 car

Very cool sport saloon car. Straight 6 engine is a master piece for BMW.

Mitch’s M340i I have always dreamed of having an M3. I bought M340 when it came out, I have had it now for 16 months now. It puts a huge smile on my face every time I drive it and you know what I don’t want an M3 anymore. This one even in comfort is right on the edge of being to stiff for me. The M3 is punishing. Maybe I am just getting old but but this is the Goldilocks car for me. I put it in comfort and it is a normal 3 series. I put it in sport+ and it’s a beast. The actual 0-60 on this stock is under closer to 3.8 seconds, check out all the car magazine reviews. With a 800 tune this thing will easily get another 50 HP and closer to 3 seconds. The only reason I would need an M3 is to have an M3. But that is just me. Oh and have you seen that grill on the M3?!. I will keep my M340 if the day comes it’s not fast enough I can spend $1500 on a tune and downpipe and add a bunch of power.

I couldn't agree with you more, the appeal of an M3 is diminished a lot by just how rough it is. The M340 is the best of both worlds and is the perfect daily. That being said, the new G80 M3 is much, much more comfortable than the F80 M3. That would be the perfect car if it wasn't for the grille.

@@tee2x965 I would not say a lot better, they handle better yes. The M340 is not just the bigger engine it has M brakes and M tuned suspension. The 10% better the M3 handles you will never feel aside from on the track. No those seats in the M3 DAMN those a e sweet!

What do you run in the quarter mile, and what have you been getting for 0-60 (or 0-100kph) I have a US Spec car myself and haven’t done any true testing, but the 0-60 seems WAY quicker than 4.2s

@@fff-fb4qw definitely not normal, I saw some estimates around half a liter to a liter every 6k miles to be normal but yours definitely screams something wrong your engine or turbo.

Had a 340i of the last generation (2018 registered). Just had my 2021 M340i xdrive delivered. Chalk and cheese. The quality and refinement of the 2021 M340i xdrive is stunning. The performance. Well. This video shows. Staggering. But I’m blown away by the difference. I can hear my music. Always an issue in the old car.

IMO BMW really nailed it with this 3 series. From the range selection, to the looks and feel of the car, test drove this, a c class and an a4 and the 3 series was a clear winner for me

I really love the 3 series compared to the 4 series. I think the main thing I prefer on the 3 series is that it keeps the iconic 3 piece lower air dam in the bumpers

B58 is so impressive!! More strength than N55 I expect !

Drooling on the interior!

I’ve had mine for 8 months. It’s the most complete, all round excellent sports sedan I’ve ever owned. Spectacular performance, comfort and economy too. On a run it’s nearly 500 miles on a tank. And when you want to throw it into a corner and use the LSD to power you out, or drop the gears and out accelerate a car that already at motorway speed while merging on a short on-ramp, you can do that too. It’s such a sleeper too. Just enough presence without being shouty.

I bought a black one last week , bought it in Worcester and drove back to Cornwall ,love it, getting 35mpg average. I had a 330i G20 before, that was a great car but the 340i is so much better. Got to be careful on the Motorway , its so smooth .

A Big Thank you for AutoTopNl for the work that they have done so far.. I have an important question. I have the chance to purchase an M340i in Tansanitblue II, but the m340i does not have a sunroof. Is that really a must-have for you? or are there even some downsides of a sunroof regarding this specific model. Besides that, after reviewing so many cars, do you guys think that the m340i as a limousine is a great choice?

I have 2500 miles on my m340i , this is a multi personality car, comfortable for daily usage, with push of a button it becomes a very very fun car, easily won multiple drags while having 2 car seats in the back.

What mpg are you getting in comfort when you don’t always floor the throttle and driving it sensibly ? I heard a 330i and m340i both on comfort drink the same amount of petrol

@@alimrahim7615 I normally get 26-27 mpg, that being said I don’t remember using a full tank gas without flooring it even once. On eco got 32 mpg on a long trip.

@@alimrahim7615 yeah eco-pro mode in the city doesn’t help fuel consumption at all, actually worsens gear changes and gas pedal feedback, like pretty much every car out there.

I got the first non-demo one in Australia. Black on black. It turns heads and won my heart instantly. Revs / pulls hard and handles very well. Yes - expensive, but very special car. Great review. Fuckin great eh!

That interior is very nice. Fiona red leather and piano black trim with chrome highlighting.

I traded my 2018 X3 M40i which is a fabulous SAV with lots of extras for a 2020 M340i grey/black. It is considerably faster than the X3 and of course corners like it is on a rail. 5/5 for me!

Amazing car

Just drove home my ‘21 M340i last week and this thing is incredible. Every time I drive it is just as fun as the first time. (Black Sapphire/Black Sensatec/Gloss Black 19”/Red Calipers) Wave if you see me lol.

That's the effect of modern BMW / Audi / Mercedes-Benz headlights. People recognize the signature and know they've got a torpedo incoming. Seen the effect for the past 10 years and it's a huge pro when driving these cars :D
